PG vs VG?

So, still pretty new to all this, but I did order some juice off vaporbomb.com, but I have a quick question. What is the difference between PG and VG? What I ordered was 50/50 mix. Is that a pretty good starting point? What is the differences? Taste, vapor, how long it lasts? Or is there any?

Good question. 50/50 is a good starting point. More vapor from the VG. More TH and flavor from the PG. So you can adjust from there.

For me, I think 60pg 40vg is about right at this point in my vaping life. 80pg/20vg just doesn't have enough vapor for me. And 30pg/70 pg has tons of vapor but doesn't seem to let the flavor come thru. Also, seems like the more vg, the thicker the juice.

You just have to try several til you find one that hits the spot. That goes for flavors, vendors, vg/pg percent, and just about everything else involved in vaping. So many variables. So, I think you did right starting with 50/50. Just order small amounts at a time until you find the one that fits.

I purchased some 50/50 from vaporbomb a couple of weeks ago. With my stock 510, it produces really fantastic vapor, with an ok TH. I would have prefered more TH but, like BlueMoods posted that can be adjusted to your preference and that will be corrected with my next order. ( going 70% PG/30% VG next )

Something to be aware of though with vaporbomb. The juices I got werent very good when I first got them. There was a weird chemical aftertaste to them that really bothered me.

BUT ( <----notice the big but ) after a week of steeping, the chemical taste went away and every juice I got ( even the free french vanilla they threw in ) became WONDERFUL!!!

MrG, juices that are mixed when you order need to age a bit. Someone said to leave the top off for a day and that speeds things up.

I have noticed that some juice makers are now offering the option of pg/vg % and a TH option. I wonder what they are adding for the TH. So, you can order all vg and... strong TH. This puzzles me and I am sure some of you newer folks. Not all juice makers offer this Th option though.

When you have a 100% or close to VG liquid, the difference will become clearer... 50/50 is good - even 70pg/30vg is nice. I like 100% VG but I don't care for 100PG...

It's all about what you prefer.

I don't necessarily agree with the statement that VG has less throat hit. You can get plenty of TH with VG... try it at 5-6Volts...

Since Vaporbomb was mentioned... I think VB is one of the absolute best places to get 100% VG liquid.
VG liquid is awesome with certain flavors like sweet+savory...
Their VG is good quality... Alien Visions and VapeRite also do VG excellent.

I wonder what they are adding for the TH.

Some people add more PG, others add a bit of vodka. Ive been trying to find out exactly how much vodka to add a little TH to juice I find otherwise quite pleasing.

Yeah I had heard about steeping ( letting a juice age ) it works the same with my pasta. Always better the day after Ive cooked it up hehe. Most of the juices Ive purchased have been good the day I received them. Vaporbomb's banana was GREAT on day one...almost gone now :( I wouldn't have brought up the steeping thing if the OP hadn't mentioned vaporbomb though.

When I first tried them out I was like," Ugh. Everyone said this was GOOD juice. Its awful" I was sooooooo happy to find it just needed to sit a week and then it became VERY GOOD juice. I highly recommend vaporbomb as long as your willing to give it a week to steep if it tastes funny at first.

As far as trying VG at 5-6 volts, after I get my eGo voltage is the next thing Ill be playing with. I'm just not that far along in my e cig edumacation yet hehehe.

Tango, I'm only up to 3.7v but... who knows what's next? I like VG also but most times get a blend.

MrG, hmm, if a supplier was adding Vodka for TH they would not be able to say that. You might be right though. About how much Vodka? Just start small, let it blend a day, and keep adding till you like it. One drop in a cart works for me sometimes. I do bourbon though. :~))

My only PG experience is with the pre-filled carts that came with my first ecig. All the liquid I've bought has been 100% VG. I can't really compare I suppose, but I can say that you can get a decent throat hit from VG by finding the right flavour (strong menthols are good) and vaping at a higher voltage or perhaps with a low resistance atomiser.

For me vapour production is crucial, and going to a lower vapour production liquid seems like a downgrade - which is why I've never been able to bring myself to go PG.

I just recently decided to try VG juice as I had read it produced more vapour ... it does!!! I will not be going back to PG. VG is thicker so it takes more time to soak into the cartridge wadding. Takes about twice as long to soak in.

I have been using pre-flavoured VG juice - maybe one day I will try mixing my own. But at the moment I am very happy.

I am a VB junkie....love anything they make (well, almost) and have definitely noticed that they need to sit for awhile. They're good right out of the box (mailbox, ha,) but the longer they sit the better they are. I ordered 4 big bottles of Blueberry (my favorite) and so they had time to age before I vaped them. The first bottle was good, the second (time to sit) was better, and (now) the third (after about 3 weeks of sitting) is out of this world!!! I believe they need to age.....I just don't have the patience to let them, usually. lol

In my relatively short amount of time vaping (1 month heh), I've had a lot of time to try out different flavors and different ratios of pg/vg (except for 100% pg)

For me, what's absolutely crucial is not throat hit or vapor production but taste... What's the absolute best ratio for taste? In the first page alone, you see contradictions as to what produces more taste. So I'm just looking for more opinions

I have always preferred VG for a number of reasons. First, I have a minor PG allergy (lips swell) so I can't use any more than 30% PG. PG carries the flavor better but does not produce as much vapor. The opposite is true for VG. Despite that fact, some of my favorite flavors are all VG. The rest are 70%VG/30%PG. But, 50/50 is a good starting point. One more thing: I surmise that, because VG is so viscous, it coats and preserves the atty like oil in an engine. My attys last forever; even at 6V.

Well for me I started off with pure VG and have most of my juice as VG but I get frustrated at times because there is such low TH in my ego. I did buy some PG and found the flavor was a little lacking but the TH is what I was looking for.

I think 60vg/40pg or 70vg/30pg mix might be good.

Thanks for the recomendation Void,

I went back to one of the sights I bought a couple of bottles of eliquid from and the site says all it's liquids are "PG based. Pure." Do you think that means it is 100% PG? The liquid does seem kinda thin. Is PG thinner than VG? It looks like most people prefer a higher ratio of VG to PG...is that correct?
