I phoned ahead of time, and found a Shopper's that would order it in for me. They didn;t ask me any questions at all.

I've had no problem with the pharmacies here(Montreal) - just walked up to the pharmacist counter and asked for Propylene Glycol - mind you, the first time I was stumbling as I was "feeling guilty" and said it was for dilution ..but today I reordered 2x500ml @8.99 each bottle without giving an explanation just looking confident was sufficient
It's not something that's considered a "drug" - and saying its for a skin moisturizer ingredient sounds good too if you really do have to explain.

Man 13 pharmacies and counting.... I am going to have start letting my fingers do the walking.
Ned, you might want to try finding a compounding pharmacy in your area. I did a google search and I looks like there are a few in your area. That's how I got my menthol crystals.
The majority of shoppers drugmarts have pg. They just don't want to give it to you. Just like Technobob said:

I went into 2 and asked. They kinda stumbled for a bit as i continued to ask and they came up with no we don't have it.
I tried another at Albion&Islington in toronto and there was a younger girl working. Asked her for it and she got confused. Told her i needed PG, propylene glycol and wrote it down in front of her. The other girl came by and before she got close I said "I need pg, usp grade, the other girl said you don't have it so I'd like to special order it". She walked off and grabbed it from the back.
Basically, don't look like your more clueless than them and be stern with getting your "moisturizer" base.
You either gotta catch them off guard and know what your talking about, or say it's for something else.

i found i had to do that do but in the end i ordered from online did not trust the store versions.

i highlighted the propylene glycol on the page
went to the pharmacist and told them i wanted this
i said it was for my cigar humidor
he looked at the page and said no problem, he would order it and call me
he called me the next day and i picked it up

Haha tried the Jedi trick. Only worked at one location. Tried what Icarium did and worked as well. Pointed at the word and asked.
Ive purchased Propylene Glycol USP from Hoopers Pharmacy at 88 Lakeshore Rd E in Mississauga Ont, this is there head office location. I didn't tell them what I really wanted it for. Cost was 10.95$ for 500 ml. I first tried one of there satellite stores and they would have had it shipped there for me if I where more patient.
I've found Heritage Brand Vegetable Glycerine at the Organic superstore in the makeup departmen. Bottle was 10.00$ for 140 ml and says it contains USP grade pure vegetable glycerin. Don't have the address but they have a couple locations up around thornhill, one on bayview just south of the 407 and one on bathurst just south of the 407. It's clear and thick.
