Why not buy replacement O-rings from Phiniac? That way you know the rings will fit, and they aren't expensive at all.

As far is disassembling the tank. There's no need to take the end caps off unless you have to replace the O-rings on them. If you have to do that, I'd suggest something like a butter knife, and gently pry up all around the edge until it comes off. I would also suggest getting something like a dental pick with a hook on the end, to help you replace the O-rings in the inside of the end caps.

I would buy the o-rings directly, but I thought if I could find them at my local hardware store it would be much faster.
Well, I suppose you could always take your current ones out, and take them to the store with you, and see what you could find.
