I hear you, BUT this is nothing new at all! Google has been collecting this information for years, now they are just being a little less transparent about it, incorporating it into a new privacy policy and feeding it back to you for "your" use. If you have a Google account visit the Google dashboard, you might be surprised to see what info they have collected about you for years!

https://www.google.com/dashboard/?hl=en

Bottom line is... if you don't want to share something with EVERYONE don't put it on the World Wide Web! It never stops amazing me what some people put on-line for the world to see!

Yea - I know . . . It amazes me too sometimes . . . However, the problem that I am having with Google - is that they are going to be sharing it with to many other people now . . . That is why I have my privacy setting set on HIGH and also delete as much as I can all the time . . .

OH and BTW: Have you ever Googled things you wrote way back when - when there were only .alt groups and the like . . . Love to do that to look at some of the stuff I wrote and some other stuff I have there (under another name of course) from way back and there were no forums . . . Now that is a Laugh ! ! !

The Navy lab told me there isn't a test yet to see if someone could be/is an asymptomatic carrier of vCJD. I guess until they do, there is no way to know for sure.

So is there a point when you are allowed to start donating again? Or is this a forever thing?

I agree totally, which is why I still maintain... be careful what you share with others on the Internet. If you don't want someone to know you searched for it... Go to the library and grab an encyclopedia and do your research the old fashioned way. If you don't want people to know you wrote it, put it in an envelope and put a stamp on it. If you don't want people to know you purchased it, head to the mall (but then you should probably use cash, as using a credit card is no different then using Google.)

One could also argue on the other side of the coin that the entire purpose of the Internet was to share information on a global level. And it has become a tool that has gone beyond the expectations of that purpose! Users just need to be more aware that this is the Internets purpose at its heart.

I am in no way bashing your opinion or the Internet for that matter. So I hope the encyclopedia or put a stamp on it comment did not come out as harsh. I actually agree with you on many levels and as a web designer I know what can be collected simply with a cookie...

And the concept of big brother has been around forever! We have been using phones and credit cards for decades. American Express knows where I eat and sleep every time I take a vacation as well as what prescriptions I fill. The Internet is just another tool to add to the list.

For better or worse we have entered the "information" age and while it does come with its downsides it also has it benefits.

In the end I always looked at this way, anyone who bothers to take the time to collect my information on the Internet or worse yet tap one of my phone calls will just come away being pretty bored!

OH - I didn't think you were doing that at all (bashing me) - More Importantly, I didn't think you were being "personal" just stating some facts - Matter of fact, I really like what you said . . .

Oh and for the record - being someone that came from little and usually has extreamly limited funds - I usually pay everything in cash (That way you know YOU own it) or use a "pre-loaded" Debit Card (so much better these days) . . .

AND In reality or the "Real World" - I can't afford credit

Cool just didn't want it come off as if your privacy was not important to me.

Really if you look at any of the websites I've created you will know that is true, I couldn't have typed "Your Privacy Is Important to Us!" so many times and not mean it could I? :p

Evening Matadorx, I see you lurking! How are you and Dr Pete this evening?

KickBassVapor makes the best IMO. But I dont know if there still in business or not. The site is almost always down :(

I know, that was my favorite place to get juice, but I am in search of a new vendor... Even if they are still open it shouldn't be that hard to buy juice...

Evening Phins ... sitting at my mom and dad's (using dad's computer) and trying NOT to talk politics.

Did we decide on a contest yet??

I will announce a contest winner on February 1st! But to answer your question, from what has been submitted I have not picked one yet. There are a few I really like though!

So is this your submission, you still have not made one!

well, for lack of a better idea.. sure

Here, I'll make it an official entry :)

Contest Suggestion

Take a warped pic of a random celebrity and we can guess who it is. I'm not sure how long you want the contest to run, but if you want a short one you can let us guess once every 2 or 3 hours until someone gets it. If you want a longer running contest you can let us make maybe 5 guesses a day for however long and out of all the people that guessed correctly you can pull a name out of a hat or something...

If you use my idea you need to warp the pic pretty good. A lot of people here are very good at reverse manipulating pics to figure it out :)
