Hi all I'm new here.tried to post this under the rba section but it wouldn't let me...?I have been vaping for a year and decided to try rba's..I need to know if and how to get more airflow because the throat hit is rediculous lol almost kills me.I have the phoenix rba drpping atomizer from litecigusa.if someone could steer me in the right direction I would be much obliged.thx all.KUHNDOG

Take the oring off one of your spare drip tips, roll it onto the drip tip of the Pheonix and down the body of the atty, once close to the base unscrew it enough so you can roll it onto the threads. Now you can line up the air hole with the coil and not have a loose fitting. When I make a coil I wrap it so both legs are pointing the same direction and have the coil on one side of the posts. The legs of the wick, I wrap around the posts and tuck into the well on the side opposite the coil. This might be enough to get you where you want it. I use a small drill bit and make the air hole just a hair bigger so the draw isn't as tight. Also I use 3.5mmwick and 32g Kanthal wire. I do 4 or 5 wraps and get a coil about 1.8ohms and usually run it around 4v

i take tht bck..my coil is 1.3 ohm and im gettin burnt taste somethin awful

The Gauge of the wire as well as the material(kanthal/nichrome a/d/ etc) and how many wraps around the wick are important to know.

With 1.3ohm coil you are certain to get a dry scratchy hit on pretty much everything over 3.5v(that would be right at 9.4watts) With any real nicotine level. You need more wraps around your wick in order to get up closer to 2ohms. That and you need to be sure you fire the atty while watching the coil so that you make sure you dont have any spots of the coil glowing hotter than the rest of the coil. If you have a hot spot it is a sign that the coil is shorting out against something it shouldnt be. This could also be the reason for your ultra low ohm load. Check that coil one more time, and if everything looks correct wrap a new one this time with more turns that you had done before.

Pretty simple solution that I have noticed. If you know how many wraps=how many ohms, then all you need to do is divide that many wraps into that many ohms, this will give you a close approxamation to how many wraps you should be looking for at a desired ohm load. For example 4 wraps=1.3ohms, so then 1 wrap should be about .325ohms. If you want to be at 2ohms then you will want to have about 6 wraps. I use this method on my own projects and it normally gets me very close to my target. Good Luck.

1.3 ohm is probably going to be hotter than you're used to, and some liquids may taste burnt. Try another coil, with a few more turns. 4/5 gets me 1.3 ohm (too hot for me), 6/7 puts me just over 2 ohm (just about right), typically. Sorry, don't remember what gauge wire (maybe 32g) or what diameter wick (maybe 3mm)...I just know this combo works well for me. Gotta be sure to keep the wick wet--wet wick gives vapor, dry wick just burns whatever is left.

If you have variable voltage, maybe a lower voltage will work without tasting burnt. For me, even 3 volts into a 1.3 ohm coil was too hot/burnt.

ok i made a new coil its 5 wraps.1.6 ohms.did the o-ring trick to keep the cone tight while lining up the air hole.rockin it at 4 volts on my lavatube.no burnt taste now just not much flavor at all.so i guess tomorrow ill try 7 er 8 wraps?see i wanna get to around 2.5 to 3 ohms.is tht impossible on an rba.how do i go about maybe getting more flavor?i normally rock a 3.0 ohm atty at 5 volts and its perfect so thts kinda what im shootin for.all of you have helped a great deal thus far and it is bearable now lol.still could be better but im still learning .rba is new to me but im very fiddely and techy i guess so i enjoy it :)
