Pila charger question

I have the Pila charger and AW IMR 18650 3.7 V 1600 mAh batteries. When I put them in the Pila they get very very hot, so hot the plastic coating on the negative end peeled off. They were brand new batteries, any idea what might be going on? Placed the batts in an UltraFire charger and they are fine, no heating. I would really appreciate your opinion, thanks so much!

I don't have a Pila charger but I would be very suspicious of any charger that heats up batteries enough to melt the outer wrap. That is supposed to be one of the better chargers available but what you are describing doesn't sound good really. Does it do it on any other batteries or just the IMR's? I would suggest taking it up with the vendor.
