Pila IBC 4 Stage

So i picked up a Pila charger. it says 4 stage.

1. Automatic analyze battery status
2. Quick charger
3. Slow charge
4. Standby mode, trickle charge.

so my question is: standby mode / trickle charge means i can plug it in and leave the house right? not for days but like 12 hours or so. in my world thats correct but i`m looking for an answer from a fellow Pila owner. yes, i know i should ask who i purchased it from but i also wanted to include the below.

I leave batteries on my Pila overnight every day, been doing it for almost a year.

Thanks for the info. it charged my Provari 2500 mah batt in about 4 hours . i`m liking this. i dont think i`ll feel safe enough to leave it on wile sleeping or leave the house but that info could help me from panicking so much.

I charge my ProVari batteries in 15 minutes on my Cell Pro Power Lab 8 If I spend enough time making holders I could charge 8 of them in 15 minutes

I`m gunna have to look that up but is it good for the life of the battery to charge then that fast?

If you look up the specs on the battery you are charging it will say what the recommended charge rate is. I know the AW imr 18490 is rated at 3c which would be 3.3 amps. I fly RC airplanes that use large lipo batteries and charge those at 5c no problem. We have found that you can fast charge without any real effect on the battery life. This is as long as you are using good quality batteries and good chargers. I wouldn't recommend the PL8 charger for PV users because it is way more than needed(1344 watts). I use it because I have it for my plane packs.


This charger HobbyKing R/C Hobby Store : Turnigy Accucel-6 50W 6A Balancer/Charger w/ accessories would be more than enough to fast charge.


You can also parallel charge lithium Ion batteries which I do all the time.

Here is a great read on paralleled charging Li-Ion Parallel Charging If you plan on doing it make sure you read this link before you do it. It is really safe as long as you know how to do it.

Thanks for that info. i looked up the Cell Pro Power Lab 8 last night and seen a $300 price tag on it and clicked off the page. to save time that would be nice but thats a lot of cash for a charger but i`ll look into it to see my benefits.

By chance does anyone know if i can charge nimh AA batteries with the Pila? for the camera.

Ya PL8 is a bit much for our use but I use it to charge many 6cell 5300 mah packs in parallel so I needed a ton of watts.
The Pila only charges lithium cells. Look around at the RC hobby chargers Most of them will charge any type battery and are priced nicely for what you get. HobbyKing R/C Hobby Store : Battery Chargers & Acc.>Battery Chargers has some good chargers cheap. Only draw back is it will take a couple weeks to get it since it comes from china unless you find one you want that is in stock in the USA warehouse

Thanks for the info. i was once a big hobby nut. nitro and RC of choice was Savage and GT10. i miss them days but i dont miss the $30 for a gal of 30% gas.
