I was quite surprised to learn that China has been cloning pinoy mods left and right. It could mean that Philippine mods are so well made and so sought after that there is a market for cheaper replicas.

I would lie if I said I was never tempted to buy a PhP 1,000 1:1 replica of an M16 mod over the PhP 9,000(?) original. I jokingly call this "presyong pandayuhan". lol

Since the trend of replicas does not seem to be going away anytime soon, I was wondering what this would mean for Pinoy modders?

basically, it would mean lesser income for pinoy modders.

but honestly, some pinoy have really over-priced mods.
I can say because several years ago, I used to work in a japanese company
that deals with fabrication of jigs for substrates and had my fair share of
being exposed to various types or metals and alloys used for work pieces.

from the raw materials to designs and the actual machining, I don't think
that the price being charged for a conventional ecigarette mod like a brass-made
with copper pins would merit a price range of 3,000 to 4,000 phil pesos.

my 2c.

I would agree with you that some pinoy mods are over priced...at least from my perspective. But can we really blame them? There is obviously a demand from people with higher purchasing power than the average Juan. I would probably do the same were I in their shoes.

The selfish side of me would like to see them lower the price to be more competitive. I would really like to support our local modders but their pricing is a bit prohibitive.

I really hope the clone market would not kill their business. An original Pinoy mod is a thing of beauty.

I have several modder friends who are slowly giving up on their ecig businesses
with the rise of clones on the market.

I, for one, have lost interest with the myriads of clones.
the original mortar v3 (not the ribbed body) i had which served me well over ayear and a half got snagged by my brother who ultimately decided to try vaping.

I'm now down to my reo grand which i reserved and use exclusively for social vaping.

well, the heck of it.
As long as we stay away from stinkies, original or cloned mod is fine by me :)

vapecon on april 12, 2014, any of you guys going there?
