I was predominantly a pipe smoker, and really loved it. Up until recently I've been fine vaping, so many good flavors, cool PVs, things to mod...my time was well spent. Then I started looking at all the pipe mods, and I mean the Jazz Carto pipe, 601, micro, TECC, Sunpipes, and Epipemods...I watched reviews, read reviews, priced different things out, and even ordered some DIY supplies to try to capture some sort of pipe tobacco experience.
Money has been tight though, and I couldn't really afford a 100+ dollar mod, but I did have old pipes lying around...So I cleaned them, redrilled, and rebuilt. I didn't take progress pics, mainly because I had low expectations of actually accomplishing anything, but accomplish I did!
My first pipe mod was pretty simple once I figured out how to get around the fact that my old pipes smelled and tasted like someone had smoked tobacco out of them for years......lol. Just a 510 connection on the back side, positive battery connection in the bottom of the bowl, and a modified madvapes gripper cap to top it all off (with a radio shack tactical switch to fire it off).
The button is on top to the silver cap over the bowl, and is really close to smoking the pipe like I used to. I found that a black DCC or XL carto with a eGe-W whistle tip was the easiest cheap way to accomplish my desired pipe fill. It runs off either a 16350/800mAH battery, or a 18350/1100mAH battery. It was my first, and still one of my favorite PVs.

The newest pipe was a great find via youtube, as it allowed me to put my dusty old eGo to use once more in what has become my all time favorite PV. I ground down the shank, cut an eGo tube down, stuck them together, and wired the actual eGo electronics through to a 16350/800mAH battery that I capped off inside. The button is part way up the shank, and is reachable with my thumb. It still has the 5 click safe, charges with an eGo charger, and can use all the eGo threaded gear I could want
.
It looks good with a eGo mega DCC, really good with an eGo-W tank, and great with an eGo mega carto. It's comfortable to hold, lasts a good amount of vape time, and is just all round fantastic for that nostalgia I was needing.

For anyone looking to convert an old pipe to a PV, and doesn't want to tasted that old pipe taste, I have some suggestions you may like. First of all, you'll need about a 3/4" drill bit for the bowl, it knocks all the old cake out of it, and is perfect for a battery. Next you should over drill the shaft/shank to get that scent saturated wood out, and make room for the wiring. Lastly, and probably most importantly for an old pipe, you want your connector on the outside of the pipe, any airflow through the carto/atty from inside the pipe will give you that old burnt pipe tobacco taste/feeling that will overpower your juice, and ruin the TH
.
Hope this helps someone out, or at least entertains a few people
