I think they say the standard is around 20 drops per ml. But this may be reffering to drops from a squeeze bottle. Some of the larger pipettes have a wider opening so you'd need fewer drops. I don't like doing the drops thing anyhow, its just too inaccurate. A 1 ml syringe with markings at every .10 is very nice when you are mixing small batches like 5 or less ml. I prefer syringes, but that is just my preference. There is a margin of error with both, but don't think its really an issue. So you add a little extra pg or vg or flavor, not really gonna screw up your recipe that much. Even if you add a little extra nic liquid, its not gonna kill ya.

VG based flavor and liquids are thicker, so this might have some impact on the droplet size. Not sure.

I use the pipettes off of this website, this is the pump I used to fill the pipette. They have their pipettes in one, 5, 10 ml sizes and the pumps also come in that size. I would say just get the 10 because it will work with all the pipettes. Now I have found that my vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol tend to stick to the sides of these pipettes which can have an affect on my measuring since I tend to do quite a bit of mass production for my juices. A little pricey to get setup but I think this equipment some of the better that I've used.
If you're looking to invest I bet the glass ones would have more accurate results because the fluids would cling less.

I offer my 2 cents worth here, by saying.... (vaping and DIY mixing for about 7 mos.)

Take a dropper top on a squeeze bottle or a pipette (?sp) and get as much (water?) as possible inside it (suck it up) - then have on hand something that has mls marked on it (a test tube type thing with a base, so it'll stand up by itself, works good) and count as you 'drop' liquid into it, when it reaches 1ml of liquid/line - you have your answer as to how many drops it takes (per ml). Make a note somewhere what your figures are and what you were using, cuz not all 'measuring things' are accurate to all of the others out there!! - do the same for the dropper bottle and note that figure too...
Then, try your # of drops out on your VG base liquid (which is thicker) - as well as your PG base liquid (which is thinner) - and you'll have an idea of why there is a difference in so many of these things we could use (grin)... the viscosity/thickness of the liquid being measured makes a difference! the thinner it is the smaller the drops are and more it takes to make a ml worth...

I'm surprised you have any questions upon trying your hand at DIY e-juice! (said with full amount of tongue in my fat cheek!!)
....ya gotta laugh when doing/attempting this DIY mixing, cuz you'll go nuts fast if ya don't have a sense of humor!! - wait til you get to the point when you want to "mix in" something to dilute this or that in a previous batch - the math involved can make you a little 'off kilter' also! Hang in there tho - there are a couple calculators for mixing e-juice online and they are SO HELPFUL!! saved my sanity couple of times so far! haha (well, what's left of my sanity after raising a houseful of boys, that is)

Have fun while you do your mixing - and take copious notes and add the 'date' to each new 'mix' (ie, get a designated notebook for this topic) - you'll want to know on down the road, what 'brand' that pineapple flavor was you first used and liked so much (3 mos. ago! grin) - learned from my own experience! Write down what you are figuring/mixing, what brands, flavor names, suggested %s for them, the mls used in the mix too - it will all be so helpful on down the road, when you want some more of that favorite mix!

I use a P-Touch label maker (model 1180 - the tape is safe around juice and easily moved from bottle to bottle as the amount inside gets lower) to mark my bottles (mix name, PG/VG%s, mg of Nic, date) - in my notebook I note the date that the items were bought, from whom, how much ($), s/h costs involved? how much I made (total mls) - and whether I liked it or not (too perfumy? or not concentrated enough? cuz the flavor 'went south' when added to the base juice with nicotine, etc. besides all the figuring as to how much flavor is 5% or 20% in mls, etc.)

I use a test tube type thing with a base (cannot think what they are called) for my mixing (25ml and 5ml ones) - and it seems all fluids tend to stick to the sides of the glass tube - so I measure in my VG 1st, then add some PG, or my nicotine in PG, next and then my flavors - and before I dump this gizmo's contents into my storage bottle, I put my thumb over the top and shake it up a bit - the PG tends to dilute the VG some and I end up with less 'sticking' than if I just measured my VG, then dumped it into the storage bottle... (I also keep a wet washcloth in a small dish handy for wiping my hands on too - grin). When done dumping, just be patient a bit and let the excess liquid on the sides flow downwards into your storage bottle - the thicker it is, the longer it will take to be 99% empty. NancyB
