From what I have read the easiest way to get the most precise measurment is using a syringe with a blunt tip needle. The only thing that you really need to take into consideration is that VG is thicker than most anything else you are going to be using in your mix and you should get a larger gauge needle to compensate, say a 14 gauge instead of a 16 or 18.

I've measured the volumes of my standard 30ml juice bottles---both the standard plastic with snap-on dropper tops or the glass Boston bottles that have a screw-on dropper---and they all test out at 20 drops per ml. Sometimes I also use the smaller screw-on dropper from a one-dram (3.7ml) glass bottle, and it's about 36 drops per ml.

A syringe is very difficult to use as a dropper.

Ya'll are making this a lot more complicated than necessary.

Fill a 1ml syringe with your joose component from the original dripper container, one drop at a time (PG/VG/Flav/nic)
Note the number of drops per ml for that container and label the container with a perm marker

For smaller (5 - 30ml) mixes, I use only syringes (no needles needed). Any mix above that volume, graduated cylinders fer moi.

You can use syringes but they aren't consistent enough IMHO.

Point one ml works fer me, as with a 1ml syringe. Anything less, I'll go to da drops as I mentioned above.

Yeah, it is an acquired taste using them. They can be very clumsy to use. It's only worth the bother when you need to be exact.

Snip the top off a 1ml disposable pipette just below the bulb. Fits perfectly tight on the end of a 1 ml syringe. Precise measurements that don't require looking at the pipette markings (which are usually in the bottle) and syringe markings that you can see because they're out of the bottle. A 100 unit (1ml) insulin syringe with the needle removed is graduated in 0.02ml, but I've also got a few that have 0.01ml markings. Easy to clean the pipette, too.

My poor man's pipette pump. :D
