Hello everyone, Pizza Dave here, delivering you a review of the AP kit by Vandy Vape. The AP is the latest MTL venture from Vandy Vape and was released a few weeks back. It is toted as a compact, waterproof, and shockproof device. At first, I thought this was going to be an Aegis Mini competitor until I received it. I was surprised to see that it is a small device that I would describe more as a rugged pod system competitor than something that would go toe to toe with a larger device. The AP mod is an adjustable voltage device with a built in 900mah battery jammed into a compact plastic body that is covered in rubber. I didn’t really know what to expect when I got this, so let’s dive down and see what I found out!

OPERATION
The AP mod won’t take long to cover as it has no display. Essentially you get the display and operation that is similar to the VV Simple Ex squonker. There are 5 LEDs across the top which represent battery level, there are LEDs next 5 voltage settings, and there are up and down adjustment buttons at the bottom. 5 clicks will turn the device on and off, adjust the output with the up and down buttons, and monitor battery level accordingly. The 5 voltage settings are Not much more to it. There is no locking function of any kind, but with the buttons as stiff as they are, I had zero issues with voltage output being adjustment or misfiring while in my pocket. I like the amount of adjustment this provides and really love the battery level indication.

HOW IT VAPES
Like I mentioned above, this device is designed for MTL vapors out there. The AP tank uses the same coils that the BSRKR all in one stick style mod used. I did not like them in that kit at all, but in this tank, I found that they were quite enjoyable. Both the 1.5 and 1.8-ohm coils performed similar to me, but I felt the 1.5 had a slight bump in flavor over the 1.8. I found the same with these coils in the other kit, so not really a surprise here. Either that or it was a placebo effect of vaping them before! I tended to run this kit with the voltage cranked all the way up and the air flow in the middle of the road spot and it was just right for me. The air flow holes on the tank offer a wide range of adjustment. The largest hole is a loose MTL or very tight direct lung inhale depending on how you hit it. The smallest hole is VERY restricted and almost feels like no air is going through at all. There are 6 total holes, so I can see most people being able to find that just right air flow.

FINAL THOUGHTS
The AP kit surprised me a bit. I really didn’t like the previous all in one MTL device they released so I was very pessimistic when this arrived, but glad they proved me wrong. I had no major issues to report what so ever. The flavor I get from this is just slightly over that of pod systems, the battery life lasts for what seems like forever, and the liquid consumption is minimal as well. I took this with me for two full days of work as my only vaping device and it lasted beyond that by a hair. I really like grabbing this thing on the go as it is pocketable, compact, and super lightweight. It doesn’t really feel cheap at all, except in one place. When I pushed in both the up and down buttons together, I thought I broke it. It made a weird snapping sound, but it didn’t do any damage. Hoping this isn’t going to become a future problem, but I repeated this process over 20 times to see if I could break it and it is still kicking! I don’t think this is a full-blown water proof device because it has simple rubber plugs and what not, but I do think it could withstand an incidental spill or two. I dropped mine in the snow as a test and it held up just fine with the snow melting all over it. This device has officially been dubbed my new “pub mod” as it is durable enough to handle some stupidity, lasts all night, and doesn’t blow offensive clouds. I like what VV did here, and if any of those pros sound like needs for you, then I don’t think you will be disappointed.
THE OVEN TEST
If this one accidentally went into the pizza oven, would I go out and buy another? I would rather grab this than other pod systems out there. It fits my style and provides a good, satisfying MTL vape.

REVIEW CRITERIA: I use each item for about two weeks to ensure I have collected enough data to adequately write a review. I use the same e liquid in tanks or rdas throughout all my reviews to ensure that I am comparing apples to apples between all modern equipment. I do not post reviews until I feel confident that I have used it enough to give an educated review. The reason I started doing reviews was due to poor purchasing decisions in my vaping infancy about two years ago. Back then, I purchased several different pieces of hardware without really enjoying it and I hope my reviews can guide people into spending their hard-earned money more wisely than I did! ****Keep in mind that some items I receive may be pre-release and not in retail packaging. Quality may be less than the finished product and what is in the package may differ from the retail package as well.
