Hello Everyone and welcome to Pizza Dave’s Vape reviews. Today I will be going over the Vandy Vape Jackaroo Kit. The Jackaroo is the latest kit from Vandy Vape and is a collaboration with the vaping Bogan. He stated in his video that a Jackaroo is another word for a ranch hand over in Australia. This rugged lifestyle goes hand in hand with what this device is designed to do, and it is withstand some serious abuse. This is another mod, similar to the Geekvape Aegis line, which is stated to be shockproof, water resistant, and dust proof. It is powered by a single 21700 but will also work with 20700s or even 18650s (with included adapter). This durable device comes packed with a new version of the 100w Vandy Chip, interchangeable panels (G10 or resin), a nice color screen, and also comes with the Jackaroo sub-ohm tank.
Disclaimer: This device was sent to me by Vandy Vape for review.

MOD OVERVIEW
Like I said above, this device is designed to be highly durable. The G10 panels feel solid, but comfortable, and the entire device has a thick rubber coating. It also has a hefty weight to it, which suggests that the body of the device is a thick zinc alloy of some sort. The battery is inserted via a sealed threaded battery cap on the bottom which has a flip down tab for unscrewing/screwing. One of the best aspects of the design is the curvature. It has an ergonomic shape that fits perfect in my hands. To top it all off, the well laid out screen offers 6 different colors to choose from.

OPERATION
Operation of this device, and the new 100w Vandy Chip, is similar, but different. 5 clicks of the fire button will turn the device on and off, pressing the fire button and up button together will lock the wattage or temp setting, and pressing the up and down buttons together will enter their menu system.
The Menu system is laid out as follows
SETTINGS MENU IN DEPTH
Like I hinted at before, most of these are all self-explanatory or I was able to summarize with ease. However, the settings mode has quite a bit in it to go over. First, the modes of the devices can be shut off, so you don’t see them on the main screen. Typically, pressing the fire button three times on the home screen will highlight the modes. From here you can scroll through Wattage, TC (Ti, Ni, SS), and Bypass, but within this settings screen you can shut them off, so you only see the modes you want to see. Here is how the settings menu is laid out.
V – Voltage mode (selectable visible or non-visible)
TC – TC modes (selectable visible or non-visible)
BP – Bypass mode (selectable visible or non-visible)
C – Change color by pressing up or down
ARR – No clue what this does. Not shown in the manual either…….
FIR – Will lock the fire button as well as adjustment buttons when locked. If selected, the device will fire. If unselected, the fire button will also lock.
RST – Reset the device to factory settings

HOW IT VAPES
I will start off by saying the majority of my testing this kit was with the included tank. I dabbled a little bit in TC, but I didn’t have a high expectation of this being great based on previous testing of the Vandy Chip. Anyways…. Wattage performance seems to be accurate when compared to other devices. I didn’t push the limit too hard, but 100w with an RDA felt like 100w. I also never felt a drop off much at all when the battery started to diminish. Overall, I am very happy with how this performs in wattage mode and have nothing bad to say about that. TC, however, is a bit odd. I tested it for just a little while with an RDA and a stainless-steel build. First off, the temp seems to be a bit cool, and a 500w vape felt more like 450 or less on other devices. The vape was consistent throughout, and I was able to take long draws without it getting too hot. However, when the cotton started to dry up, I never felt a decline in power. When the cotton was all the way dry, I felt the vapor start to diminish, so I knew it was going dry, but the power was still being applied. I stopped before breathing in a nasty dry hit, but my conclusion is the TC isn’t very good. Maybe somebody else with proper equipment will say otherwise but going off of feel suggests that it doesn’t work that great. Being a wattage vapor I never faulted it for that too much. I tested this with some other RTAs and found it to perform well, but as a kit, it surprised me a bit. I was a bit skeptical on this tank, as VV hasn’t been known to be big into the mesh coil game, but here they are, putting this out there.

TANK REVIEW
The kit comes complete with the Jackaroo tank. A pretty much run of the mill mesh-coiled sub-ohm tank. It features 3.5ml of capacity with straight glass and 5ml of capacity with bubble glass. It is a bottom air flow tank with a removable top cap fill method. The cap is a ¾ turn removable top and it offers one, decent sized, refill port. The coils that it comes with are a .15-ohm mesh coil and a .30-ohm (more-open net) mesh coil. Both of the coils are good, but I preferred the vape I got from the .15-ohm. It suits my vaping style more, is a bit airier, and runs at a slightly higher wattage. The .30-ohm might be good for those who want to conserve some battery life, but the flavor from the .15 beat it out and is the one that I want to keep on running. They did a nice job with the mesh coils on this. I had no leaking, no dry hits, no gurgling. Flavor is on point with some of the better mesh coil tanks out there but is still beat out by some of my favorites (Mesh Pro and Falcon). It lasted all the way up to 50ml before I started to get some flavor reduction, so it is on part with every other “good” mesh coil I have run. There isn’t much bad I can say about it.

FINAL THOUGHTS
This mod surprised me a ton. At first, I thought, oh great, an Aegis copycat. However, Vandy Vape and the Vaping Bogan did their homework. I fell in love with this kit right out of the gate. It feels great in hand, the built quality is solid, the screen is gorgeous, and it is built to be durable. To top that off, it has a decent included tank and comes in a lot of nice color options. I struggled to find cons that were meaningful to be honest, so I am just going to have to nitpick a lot. The first con is the weight. It weighs more with a single 21700 than my Aegis Legend with two 18650s so it is definitely a pants sagging chunk of metal. Secondly, there is no USB port for firmware updates. It seems like a last-minute change, as my sample came with a USB cable and the manual mentions the USB. The last con is the battery door cap. The flip out tab isn’t the greatest design to grab on to. If you don’t have finger nails, it might be impossible to open. Sure, it loosens up a little over time, but it is still not perfect. So, with these few cons pointed out, I assume you know my feelings on this one. It’s a solid device. I really enjoy it and can see myself using this one for a long, long time. If you are someone that is in the market for a durable mod and want another option than an Aegis, here is your solution.
OVEN TEST: If this were to accidentally fall into my pizza oven, would I go out and get another? Yes. Sadly this is not fireproof.

Thank you all for reading and thank you to Vandy Vape for sending this my way for review. I am seeing this online for a wide range of prices, but it isn’t in stock yet that I can tell. Some sites show $65, yet others are closer to $90. I assume it will land somewhere around $75 once these are stocked up.

REVIEW CRITERIA: I use each item for about two weeks to ensure I have collected enough data to adequately write a review. I use the same e liquid in tanks or rdas throughout all my reviews to ensure that I am comparing apples to apples between all modern equipment. I do not post reviews until I feel confident that I have used it enough to give an educated review. The reason I started doing reviews was due to poor purchasing decisions in my vaping infancy about two years ago. Back then, I purchased several different pieces of hardware without really enjoying it and I hope my reviews can guide people into spending their hard-earned money more wisely than I did! ****Keep in mind that some items I receive may be pre-release and not in retail packaging. Quality may be less than the finished product and what is in the package may differ from the retail package as well.

The Menu system is laid out as follows
- Settings – This sub menu let’s you select different mode options and other misc. items. I have more on this in detail below.
- DIY – Memory modes for power and temp. control curves. To change these curves, press the fire button 4 times when in one of the 5 “D” modes.
- Brightness – Raise or lower screen brightness
- Sleep Time – Change the sleep time of the device. I don’t think this works right, as I never saw a change when I went from 2 minutes to 10 minutes. I never noticed a real “sleep” mode.
- Puff Counter Reset
- Version
- Device ID

TANK PROS

- ¾ turn top cap
- No leaking
- Good flavor
- Good coil life
TANK CONS
- Sucks liquid down at a fast pace (like most mesh coils)
- Unsure of other brand coil compatibility or availability (please enlighten me if you know)
