hey guys,

I'm new to vaping and I'm currently using a vision ego-c + clearomizers and I'm planning on making the switch to an MVP2 and getting into rebuildables. Would this setup be possible? I don't want to spend too much on a mod atm but would really like to get into making my own coils and dripping. I'm planning on getting a tobh atomizers if it matters!

Thanks!

Tobh is dual coil only (unless you like pack cotton against the airflow, or tape off one side). Personally I like 0.8 dual coils on my tobh.
Mvp is a great mod for clearos and dipping your toes into rba, but if you already know you want to rebuild, I wouldn't pick up an mvp for that... All imo of course.
If you understand battery safety and ohms law, you can pick up a mech mod and ohm reader for around $50 which would pair nicely with that tobh. I do not recommend a mech if you are not comfortable with battery safety and ohms law! You will also need batteries and a charger which will easily run you another $40 (don't cheap out on batteries and charger... Could cost you fingers or body parts or worse...)
I know it's not cheap, but look into getting a dna clone. I love my 30w cloupor, it's about an inch shorter than than the mvp (510 to 510) so extremely pocket friendly, especially with a dripper! There are a lot of clones out their, and I think the ones on fasttech are around 50. Then get a good Sony, Samsung, or LG battery from illumination supply or rtdvapor. There are lots of bad clones out there so be careful where you buy your batteries. With the dna30 clone it has on board charging, so you don't need a dedicated 18650 charger or a ton of extra batteries.
For your first dripper I'd say get something that you can put a single coil in. It's easier to start that way. Plumveil is a great rda by most accounts, with a single coil option. Magma is good too. You can find clones for like $10 on ft or focalecig.com

Hope this helps!

You'll eventually find yourself wanting more than what an MVP2 can give using an RDA. If you don't feel comfortable with unregulated (i.e. mechanical) mods, a DNA30 clone (like previously mentioned) would be a wise choice. You can easily run builds down to about 0.5 ohm with one of those.

If you vape often, you'd probably find value in picking up a charger anyway. The internal USB charging circuit on most DNA30 boxes is only 500 mA, so you'd be looking at about 2-3 hours to fully charge, depending on the battery installed.

I was looking at that katady after I saw you got one.
Reviews seem to be good. Larger battery and 15w max is a plus over MVP, but it's a bit taller and wider than the MVP (though it is thinner). Also, I personally don't like the 3 button menu on box mods. I think a volume style rocker switch on the side would have really improved this device. Also 3 click to menu function on my SiD was a pain and I ended up changing my wattage by accident a lot. Also, I think some of the features are gimmicky ("automatic" mode, flash drive, among others)
It will be interesting to see how it stands up against the MVP durability wise.
I think the MVP is a great beginner device, though I wish they would update the board in it to be a bit higher wattage with an oled screen that displays more like the Yihi or DNA boards do, at a glance you know your wattage, battery life remaining and ohms.
It would be nice to know the amp limit on it, and see oscilloscope results.
All IMO of course.
