I was surprised when I bought a black Tornado battery and it had that finish, too. The Platinum kit I bought a couple of months ago didn't.

I'm still not sure I like it as well. It tends to gather grit easier but it also grips better. I guess I'm happy 'cause they still work great!! :D

BTW... does the cone have the same finish?

Well my platinum Tornado arrived today, only 3 business days after the order to boot! Mine is also 'rubberized'. I'm kinda disappointed about that... my last phone case was very similar and after 2 months that coating started to peel and flake off:mad:. Not to mention EVERYTHING sticks to the sucker, took me a couple of mins to get some of the packaging paper residue off of it just from it sitting IN the box. Oh well, I will say it vapes pretty well, even though all I can compare it to is a SE Gold kit I over payed for a year or so ago.

Everywhere I go
Hello ECF.
Got my second platinum Tornado kit today.
The first set I got had a smooth, shiny finish.
The second set has a rubberized finish.
Very interesting...
Will have to decide which one I prefer.
Don't know if it is the way all of them will be produced from now on...

I have 2 of the 'rubberized' cones and it's already wearing off
after a couple of weeks.

When it gets really bad I'm going to have to sand the rest off
and end up with stainless steel cones (on a platinum battery)

Should end up looking so-so.

No where near as sharp as matching platinum.

I don't know what they were thinking using that coating.

my multi-pack batteries are the shiny platinum, but are branded with a big ugly "MP" on them, I guess to denote that it came from a multi-pack and thus can't be returned (which is lame imo, they should warranty doa at least)

the one I bought originally was a single unit and it and the cone have the rubberized finish which are peeling off after 3 weeks.

totallywicked, please tell the china factory we prefer the non-rubberized finish! and please find a less fugly way to mark the multi pack batteries than the huge black MP smack dab under the button

I also got the platinum Tornado a month ago and it was rubberized. After a while, probably due to my daily use and juice messiness, the rubber started to peel. That was okay 'cuz I managed, with some difficulty, to take all the rubberization off without scratching it up and now I have a hard to obtain stainless steel batt and cone. It looks great like this. If they sold them this way, I would have bought it. Platinum was the closest to SS. Although the mega atties are still platinum, it still looks good. I am also using the SS mega cartomizers from another vendor and together it looks complete.

Yeah, my friend loves his new SS Tornado as well. It's exactly what he was expecting in the first place.
