Hey All: This is more for the Local Vapors in SillyConValley. There is a store that is opening in a couple weeks Called Platinum Vapes. Dose anyone one have knowledge of this Company? It seems they have their own line of equipment as well as offering others along with ejuice. I saw some posts on the Yelp with some very satisfied customers and I am looking for a Brick and Mortar store that I could deal with Folks face to face ask questions some a I could feel comfortable coming back to time and again! Anyone in this Forum have their equipment? Direct contact with them? I’ve seen some photos of their equipment looks packaged well. I emailed them was contacted by one of the owners Lily she is willing to accommodate me with what I need even though their store is not open for business just yet. Platinum Vapes anyone know of them or have dealings with them?

Thanks

I have not had any personal dealings with them nor heard of em until this thread. I did Google them and it looks like A) they don't have a website... yet B) their yelp reviews look like several 5 star reviews that seem suspicious and 1 review that alleges them to be a shop of the type we don't talk about on ECF with a very small selection of E Cigs. Like I said I have never dealt with em. I would also keep in mind there are several other vape shops in your immediate area. You have It Is Vapor in Redwood City, E Smokey Treats in Scotts Valley, Apollo in Concord (Online but will do an in person p/u with advanced notice), Tasty Vapor in Oakland, and a Volcano E Cigs in Antioch. I have not dealt with either of these places either but want you to know all of your options.

*Update* They do have a facebook page and it does look like they may be trying to establish a vaping clientel. It still looks like Ego's are it and yes they do have an E Juice Line.

Thanks Mark: I'm unclear about "to be a shop of the type we don't talk about on ECF" I really don't understand? I'm surprised about the website too! As far as the other shops I heard of the others but not the one in Scotts Valley that would be the closest to me at about 15 miles up the hill as you are going over to Santa Cruz might have to jump on one of the Bikes go check them out the others are just a bit to far away to make a trip up to them. I did not check out the Face Book but will. Since I am looking at least one eGo Battery and they carry them I thought I would check em out. The owner Lily said she would meet me at the store for what ever products I needed. I am out of Menthol Juice she is going to get back to me with what they stock so I can purchase. I like the fact they are willing to go out of their way to accommodate me it really says something to me! She did say they will be open in a couple weeks. I am perplexed with the popularity of Vaping that there are not more Vaping Stores in SillyConValley?

Yeah it does sound like they are going out of their way to service the customer so that is a good sign. It sounds like you are saying the store isn't open yet so that may be the reason for no website yet. Yeah unfortunately brick and mortar stores in general when it comes to vaping are few and far between. There are a ton of em in So Cal a handful in the Bay Area and barely 1 in Sacramento where I live.

Uhh ive called them to see whats up with their products. I haven't asked about the juice, but their hardware is just over priced/self branded ego products... $65 for a 2 battery non-vv kit and the vv kit is $85. I'm not sure if the vv is a 3 click or twist/kgo clone. Plus when I checked them out on yelp, all 5 stars and multiple single review accounts, which makes me believe that they had their friends make-up reviews... They're real, but it's just not worth it to check them out...

Edit: I'm the one who gave then the 1 star, I want people to get decent deals. Why rip off people with rebranded crap and tell them to pay a premium on it. And as for what Lilly from platinum Vapes said about not working out of a HID shop, it's not true. I personally asked them if they has a physical shop and they gave me the address. Turned out to be a dinky display case about 2'x2'x2' glass case next to the register.... When they actually open up a shop I'll redo my review, but for now my review stands.

MaNurse thanks for putting a comment on this thread as well. Yes thats why I said what I said. I dont wanna be the water thrown on a legitimate new startup. We are a tight community in the vaping world and I support the mom and pop places... But... I also don't want to see a new vaper get hosed by a shop that knows nothing about vaping and doesn't want to know. Thats why I through out the list of other places some of which I believe are registered ECF Suppliers. 65 imho is outrageous for even a 2 battery Ego type kit.

Yeah, after being involved with the reddit ecig community, it kinda hard letting them go with so many "fake" reviews so i had to let people know what they were all about. If you want to help me expose them for their bad prices and cheezy model pictures just log onto yelp and give my review a "helpful" +1...

Well it looks like I over paid for two starter kits then? I think $65 for one and then $54 for another (20% discount) for non-vv... I also paid $25 for an eGo-vv, with buttons and a tiny screen... I can still return my $54 one probably, as the 5-click on/off doesn't appear to be working.

There are a TON of places out with better prices. Like Discountvapor. You could get 2x 3 click vv egos for 40. and they have other kits too. You just have to look around and if youre every iffy about a site, just ask either here or on the ecig subreddit.

I should have looked into this forum sooner. I guess we live and learn. Thanks for the advice, and I'll keep that in mind when I look for a mod. I think I'm going over board, but I love it. I want it ALL.

Thanks again.

Yes very true MaNurse. There are a plethora of really great suppliers on here with great prices. I think in the case of the OP for what ever reason he was limiting his search to just Brick and Mortars. I can understand why I have no patience for waiting on vape mail lol. It does severely limit the choices though. Impatient as I am I do still recommend mail order and from someone who seems to have a good vendor rep here on ECF. Discountvapor is one of those places among many others. Although in the end of February I think I'll be migrating down towards San Jose when I get my Mod.

Some Great Thoughts, Thanks! I like the fact that everyone is looking out for their Fellow Forum Vapers! Believe me, it’s not that I’m limiting myself I have looked at many suppliers listed here. It looks like I’m making purchase with at least three of them. But, I would love to find a local store to look at all the goodies have a hands on approach before I Plant a Buck Fifty on Upscale VV Batt! Then to have an intelligent face to face conversation about the products! Plus a place I can run to when I run out of a favorite juice or just want to try something new! I envy those that have local Brink & Mortar stores to frequent! Doesn’t everyone want a local store?

Some people don't mind paying a but more to support a local business. They do have more expenses than an internet only company. Some of the internet suppliers do a huge volume. Their prices, at least on some things will be lower.

As long as they know their products, give you accurate information (none of this- a carto is a pack of cigarettes), offer decent customer service and a warranty that at least matches the online suppliers. It's nice to have a B&M at least to be able to pick up cartos or a battery or liquid if you run out.

That’s Right Caridwen: Sometime Best Price isn’t the only factor! Supporting local business is a Good Thang! There are shops where the folks know my name and go out of their way to make me happy, I like it! Makes it easier to part with my money especially knowing they will back what they sell! Plus there is nothing like having a hands on approach before making a purchase! Some of you may have read of my negative experience with a local smoke shop. I’ve been putting the word out and I already know folks that say they will not frequent the store again. Word of mouth is a big thing we see it here!
