For everyone out there who is new and posting about the amazing success they've had with vaping, please consider getting involved politically. There are a lot of states and the US government who are working to ban e-cigarettes. There are threads all over about it and CASAA as well as other groups are great places to find out more. I know writing letters and making calls can be a pain, but its not going well. You could lose your right to vape. If you are happy that you've found something that truly helps you, please get involved and protect your right to choose.

I want to get involved and write letters and etc., I really do! But I'm not very politically inclined (and perhaps not very bright - just being honest) so I've gone to the political threads and tried to read them and, honestly, can't really figure out what they're talking about. So I end up just scanning it for who I'm supposed to write my letter to and what it should say. Where can I find easy info like that?

First of all, when something is new, there's a lot to learn, it doesn't mean that you're not very bright if you don't get it all right away. Basically, what's going on is that a lot of legislators out there think that you shouldn't be allowed to make your own decisions about this. That includes states and the FDA as well as the upcoming Federal PACT legislation. They want to ban it, and theres a lot of money involved in the amount of revenue that is lost from taxes on cigarettes and pharmaceutical stop smoking aids that don't have a very good success rate. Most of the threads you're talking about have a sample letter as well as the people you're supposed to email or call. You may want to try taking one of them and then customizing it to make it more personal, tell your story in it. You don't have to write a letter worthy of a pulitzer, just make sure your voice is heard. We are in the minority here, so many of us need to speak up to be heard at all. Don't worry about how good it is, just get it out there.

ok, so I hear about PV's being considered either a tobacco product or an NRT: which one do we want it to be? The way I see it, if it's an NRT then the FDA gets to regulate it, but if it's a tobacco product then it gets taxed. Why is one better than the other? As for PACT, doesn't that just state that suppliers need to have a way to verify the purchasers age?

I wrote to my Federal congressman this weekend and President Obama. I even suggested that Obama try it. ;)
Seems to me if we got Obama hooked, we might not have a problem. I think one of our illustrious suppliers should send him a starter kit and let him give it a try. I have heard news stories saying he is still smoking anologues.

Who's my congressman? and how do you write to the president? Where do you get these addresses?

Don't forget that if PV's are fully classified NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapy) they will have to go through FDA trials like any drug or device.

If this happens it will take years before they are released for sale and possibly with a script only for the first few years before being available over the counter. Without big money pushing the trials it could take over a decade if ever. Many products have never completed FDA trials. Many more sit in limbo while the same product is used in other countries to save lives.

Sure - why not? Obama is ALL ABOUT the citizens of the USA. That's why he raised taxes on bulk tobacco 2000+% a short while back, right?

Getting Obama involved is a sure way to screw up something good, IMO.

PACT would prevent you from having your supplies delivered via mail, UPS etc. As for which classification is better, I think you should probably decide how you feel about that one yourself, I will tell you that I personally don't trust the FDA and don't want them involved in any way, shape or form. And while Obama may not be for the US citizens, I do think he is hoping for re-election, although I seriously doubt that will happen. By the way, I don't think Obama differs in his regards for the American people any more or less than any of our other recent presidents. But that being said, your reps are probably a better path, that doesn't mean that Obama shouldn't be on the list, just he didn't make the short one.

There are sevral states right NOW pushing through bills to stop you the voter from vaping and the little businesses which have sprung up from doing business - remember they are selling a LEGAL product that may help people stop dying of smoking related diseases, they aren't pushing smack onto little kids or selling guns to teens.
This across the board political parties btw and one of the slogan is 'to save kids' - oddly they are condeming all kids of ex smokers (who now vape) and kids any place else to 2nd hand smoke from tobacco cigs - and the Bills being pushed 'infer' that smoking cigs in somehow 'FDA approved'.
Find out if YOUR State is about to push through a ban making it illegal for you to buy a PV or making your fave supplier into someone on welfare.
If I sound angry I do apologize but to me America has always stood for choice and the small man, not big business and big money OVER the small man, which is how it seems to be going.
