Your problem is simple the CE4 as already mentioned is not meant for long term vaping it gets to a point where it tastes horrible and needs to be replaced.
Get a new tank with disposable replacement coils and make sure to change them when they start to taste funky.

Something like this:

That takes these:

I still use mine all the time & it's been going strong 4 1/2 months.

I know of people who have used the same CE4 for 6 months or more with new coils periodically with no issues.

I have disposable esmart clearos I have used for 3 months and with periodic cleaning they are still fine. The same with some t4 808's I have as well.

As long as you change the coil and nothing has broken or degraded the plastic shell a CE4 is still like new and should work fine.

Hi Julia, first I see that your battery is not a vv so it can't be the that you are turning it up to high. It sounds like you have bad coils, they brunt taste can affect your juice if you continue to use the coils with your juice. I would try putting new coils in and dumping the juice, cleaning your tank very good, then add new juice and see if that helps.. The juices you are using can really be hard on your coils, as I also like them and some times depending on how often I am vaping and maybe chain vaping they will burn quickly.
Hope that helps..

could be vapers tongue ... if you don't drink lots of fluid and cut back on vaping for a while ... it can stick around and produce all kinds of off tastes.

the advice to go to a B&M tasting bar is a good idea ... it should tell you if it is you or the device and juice you're using.

good luck Julia

I went thru something like that at about 2-3 months. I was a 40 year chain smoker. All of a sudden everything, and I mean everything, started tasting horrible. I went on a buying spree and tried over 50 different samples. I finally discovered that I didn't like flavors, so I switched to unflavored liquid. I have a few fruit flavors that I can enjoy for 1/2 hour or so, but then they get annoying again, so it's back to unflavored.

You might want to try making your own using no artificial ingredient flavors and Stevia sweetner. Worked for me but for me it was at about 3 weeks. Artificial sweetner or something in the bought ejuices. here is where I get my flavors. Flavor Concentrates - Highly Concentrated Natural Flavoring - Flavor Drops

Hi Julia and welcome I'm guessing your a fellow Brit :) what liquid is it youve been vaping brand and flavour would be helpful. I'm familiar with the beginner kit you have and they are really not good in terms of quality of vape or quality control of the components and afraid they tend to fail a couple of months into using them which also fits with what you have said. If you could give an indication of the budget you have it will be a lot easier to help find you something that will suit you better from a reputable company.

Don't give up on it as the benefits once you get sorted out device wise are fantastic and can even become a hobby to give you something to do.

Im betting that the wicks are getting burnt... are you priming the coils before you apply power??

Priming consists of taking several hard "pulls" without pushing the button after you fill a new tank or after installing a new coil.
you need to pull juice into the coil section of the atty before vaping on it... the wick needs to be soaked first.
CE4s last anywhere between 3 days to a week or so before the coils get gunky and burn... different juices can also add/reduce to the lifespan of a coil... dark heavy flavors can blow out a coil in a couple of days.... lite colored mild flavors seem to allow for a longer coil lifetime...

have you considered stepping up in quality on the atty ( tank)?... CE4s are pretty much the super economy mass produced low end of the spectrum of tanks.... and besides.. after buying several of them, the money spent could have gone into 1 good tank :)

I need help asap. I am in tears as I just don't know what to do. I keep getting this awful taste from vaping, it's sort of in my nose as well, it's a chemical horrid acrid taste, I have changed oils, tried different company's. I have renewed the oil barrel (cleartomizer?) sorry not down with the lingo. I have tried about 4 new ones. I am at a loss. I know I may have vapour fatigue, as I can hardly taste any of my old flavours, however why am I tasting a horrible taste? I can understand not tasting anything, but can't understand why everything tastes horrible. I have been vaping for 9 weeks after smoking for 25 years, I was getting on great guns really enjoying it, now I am in tears as I just don't want to start smoking again, but I can't stand the taste I am getting. At the moment I am vaping a mint one as it's the only one that covers up the horrible taste. But not completely. I usually vape sweet stuff, like caramel, blueberry, Amaretto. Help please.
No don't go back to smoking..! I usually get a bad after taste with chocolate flavors, like mocha and similar flavors. I would make sure to know what vg pg level your e juice brand is. I sort of understand what you mean. To be honest some of the less expensive brands have allot of flavor. There is this brand called ''Shisha (smart e liquid) by Hangsen. And the cherry and blueberry is very strong holds GREAT flavor in ego's I think its 70 pg 30 vg. I switch to this brand when i want a strong cherry blueberry flavor. Don't get me wrong I love dripping max VG. But when in tanks the higher Pg tastes soooo good. Might help. Here is a link Here

It was perfect when I got it, so I don't think it's any thing technical like battery power as it's the same one I started with

An acrid taste may suggest burnt juice - check with the manufacturer for higher resistance coils.

For my Liberty flights Vivi-Nova, they go up to about 2.8 Ohms - they're very mild but I find they only last a few days (they claim a few weeks). The lowest they do is 1.8 but even then my DIY coils seem to last longer.

IME; anything under about 1.2 Ohms scorches the juice a bit.

Hangsen is what I buy - seems to work OK for me.

Its not the cheapest, but I've had experience of cheaper and didn't like it much!

OP - Imma break it down real simple, so bear with me, this will be a long post.

The CE4 is a "top coil clearomizer". That's "the lingo" that describes how it works. Every e-cig has a heating element in it. The battery provides electric flow to the heating element, which does what it's supposed to do, and gets hot. The e-liquid (commonly called "juice") boils off in the heat, making the vapor we inhale.

The heating element is called a "coil" because it is most often a piece of coiled up electrical resistance wire. Now, the coil can get a LOT hotter than required to boil the liquid, which can lead to problems. IT can only get that hot, though, if it isn't wet with liquid. So long as its wet, then the liquid absorbs heat faster than the coil priduces it, keeping temperature where its supposed to be.

In order to keep the coil wet, it needs a feeding system, to provide fresh, un vaporized e liquid as fast, (or hopefully faster) as its being boiled off.

That's where the wick comes in. Those little puffs of material inside the tank are wicks, and they feed right through the coil. As liquid boils off, the wick carries liquid from the surrounding tank into the vaporizing chamber (inside the rubber grommet just under the mouth piece).

With a top coil clearomizer like a CE4, you NEED to keep those wicks wet. by which I mean wet with a capital "SOAKED".

the most common problem is people who vape with the e-cig close to upright. The liquid level falls below the wicks, and as you vape, the wicks then dry out.

When that happens, the wick inside the coil scorches first. Then the rubber bits in and around the coil start to melt. That's when the REAL nasty taste starts.

Also - with a brand new unit, it is very, very, very important to give the liquid ten minutes or so to soak thoroughly into the wick and saturate the coil. There are two reasons for this; first, many manufacturers "prime" the wick with a horrid tasting primer fluid. As near as I can tell, it's just e-liquid with no nic or flavor, but usually straight PG or VG (the base liquids out e-liquid is made from) is pretty tasteless. The "primer" liquid is pretty gross though. Anyhow, if you give a fresh new fill up time to soak, it dilutes the primer, and lets your e-liquid's actual flavor come through. Second, if they didn't prime it, or did so inadequately, then you have DRY wick, which will lead to the scorching I talked about a little earlier.

If you have ANY of these CE4's that you haven't used yet AT ALL, try filling it with your favorite liquid, then letting it sit, upside down for 10 minutes before assembling and trying it out.

The reason I suggest a new topper is because a scorched one will always taste bad. If you burned a head, it's toast, toss it.
