There are better PVs, but I got by on worse when I first got started. Just a matter of understanding what's going on. Dumping more money into something you're having doubts about isn't always that easy. But I do hope that she at least tries a different clearo - finding the right device (along with the right flavor) is the toughest part of all.

We all have a learning curve when we start. vaping isn't the same as smoking, and you need more knowledge to vape than to smoke. Don't give up yet, 'cause it's worth it.

I don't know where you live, and this may not be easy depending on your location, but around here, there are a lot of vape shops. Real businesses, brick and mortar places, where you can go in and buy vape gear. You can try out different juice, and talk to people who know what they are doing. If they have any of those in your area, then the people at one of those shops should be able to diagnose your problem easily. Some shops are great, with knowledgeable people, and some, the people there don't vape and can't do a thing to help. If you can find a decent vape shop, I'm sure they can explain your problem in just a few minutes.

I'm thinking it would be a great if there were vape techs who could meet people locally and check out their setup, correct problems, suggest better options. If you're lucky enough to have a good B&M close by then you can get this kind of help, but for many people they either have no store close or worse they have a store that's just interested in moving product.

Maybe I'm just unaware of support like this that already exists through the forums or online communities. Just having been an IT professional for almost 20 years it seems vaping is a bit of a mine field for those who aren't inherent tinkerers/mechanics/engineers/geeks.

My introduction to vaping was by Vapourlites cigarette-alikes, they were a poor substitute for smokes and weren't much cheaper for consumables. Its unlikely that the manufacturers wanted anyone to know you could refill the cartomisers, and the only way you knew to add more juice was by the burnt juice taste - usually by that time the cartomiser was ruined.

Finding the Vivi-Nova V2 was a bit of trawling the web and a bit of luck, its transparent so easy to avoid burning it dry.

An acrid taste is likely too low coil resistance, or an old gummed up coil - Liberty-Flights recon their coils should last a few weeks, I'm lucky if I get 1 week out of them - but then I used to pretty much chain-smoke hand rolling tobacco.

One thing to watch - if continually topped up juice has gone dark in the clearomiser, you can bet the coil needs a new one. And if you put the old juice back in, it'll gum up the new coil.

My vape techs are HERE on ECF, and it's free!

Everybody here is so helpful and I don't think there's ANYTHING anybody can go through that somebody else hasn't already experienced. I would've been totally screwed if I hadn't found this place. Really good support group too! :thumb:

Vaping isn't (yet) a mature science - I'm sure we've all got grim tales from our first trying it days.

It can be a hassle getting started, but it *REALLY* is worth not filling your lungs with toxic cigarette smoke.

I think we may have lost Ms. Julia, the OP. If she is like me then she will be back. I started vaping, stopped and re-started many many times over about five years. After wasting a lot of money on stuff that some day I may sell, one day somewhere around a year ago, I ended cigarettes all together. Leaving tobacco is a journey the end of which is worth taking.

Amazing how much helpful advice has been given even though Julia has not been back since the day she started this thread. That is one of the reasons I love this place and the folks that frequent it.

I do hope that she has managed to work out her problems and is happily vaping away but, if not, I hope she comes back for at least encouragement. We're pulling for you Julia.

I'm not sure if this helps, but I bought a 5 sample pack from a well known vendor a while ago, and they were ALL terrible. Tasted nasty, like chemicals. I couldn't even.

However now, some 2 months later, they're quite nice. Whenever I get new ejuice, I take the lid off the bottles, stand them in a bowl of pretty hot water (not boiling, you'll melt your bottles) and let them cool to room temperature. Give them a good shake and leave them to sit for a couple of weeks. Some people say leaving them in the window where it's warm helps, but I prefer to store them in the dark. This has made a huge difference to my vaping. Alot of people make the mistake of trying to use their liquid as soon as they've bought it, and get that terrible chemical taste.

That's because many juices are vapable upon receipt. The only time I let juices steeps week; months even, is when I have an overabundance of that flavor. Sitting here now looking at juices that have been steeping for a year.

That could be, since she said her buds for regular food were perfectly fine. :)
But she did say she tried many different companies - doesn't seem right to me that ALL of them would require steeping.
Really wish she comes back - sounds like her problem could be easily fixed.

Tasting food but not juice would indicate vapor's tongue to me. *THINKING* she may have gotten her issues sorted out. You know on forums happy people don't come back to voice displeasure so I'm hoping it worked out well for her.

I didn't see if you build your own coils. I didn't think I was going to be able to do it until I started wrapping my own coils. No pre made tanks/coils worked very long for me. Try that before you give up. Rip tripper and bustardo on you tube helped me. I quit 11/14 and just now finding juice I like.

Liberty Flights claim that their Vivi-Nova V2 heads should last a few weeks, I used to chain smoke hand rolling tobacco - so perhaps its not entirely surprising that I was lucky to get a few days out of them.

Must be my winding technique is getting better - occasionally, I get a couple of weeks out of a DIY coil.

Maybe try 1 of these, if your happy with your Ego. It will taste much better then any tank you put on an ego. You will also save money on coil heads. Youll need some cotton and higher gauge Kanthal so you can keep your ohms above 1.4. Its a rather satisfying vape amd a good way to find out if you wanna venture into building.
