Hey guys, so I'm new to the forum and also new to mixing. I've been vaping for some time and think I'm ready for the next frontier.
I'm having a really hard time figuring out the mix calculator.

Let me just list what I bought and what I'm trying to accomplish and maybe you vets can lend me a hand in making sense of it all.

I bought

500ml of 100% vg (xtremevaping.com)
50ml/mg PG nicotine? (xtremevaping.com(is this 50 mg of nicotine per ML or 50 mg of nicotine in the whole bottle?))
8 oz flavor west blueberry PG (how much pg are in these flavors?)
4 oz Flavor west Mt. Dew PG
4 oz flavor west cheesecake pg
pint of vodka

i have a bpa free measuring cup that measures as low as 50ml
i have a syringe measures up to 12 ml
i have 2 mason jars hold up to 200 ml

Im trying to accomplish a good base 60vg/40pg or 70vg/30pg with 12-18 nicotine

SO I guess what I'm ultimately asking is... am i on the right track as far as ingredients and insturments?
and Help me figure out how to make 100 ml of a good base... PLEASE!!

Thanks so much :)

Hello
For me I mix all my bace at one time 1000ml Vg and250 Vg/nicotine 100mg/ml
The first 250ml of Vg makes it 50mg/ml then I add 500ml Vg to that and this makes it 25mg/ml
I can drop it more as needed with flavor/destilled water. I can't do much pg
Now I have 1000ml of 25mg/ml I put 500ml in the freezer and mix with the other

Have you tried using EJuiceMeUp?
It's a good calculator.
Your Nic is probably 50 mg/ml, but you should check - it's important!
You need a recipe, in percentages (like 5% cheesecake, 10% blueberry) and then you need to know what level nic you want to end up with, and how much you want to make, and what PG/VG ratio you like. You plug that info into the calculator and it gives you how many mls of each ingredient to use.

You need 1 ml syringes - if you're going to make small batches to test (you should), some of the ingredients will be needed in very small amounts. You COULD do "drops" but that's not very exact, as a "drop" varies - a lot - depending on what ingredient...

your right on target with what you bought

you can get 40pg/60vg with a 20mg max nic

or you can get 30pg/70vg with a max 15mg nic

you will need to figure in the PG in the flavor concentration.

the fore mentioned e juice me up calculator is an excellent choice.

Hi Chase,

What calculator are you trying to use?

Check your nic bottle. If it says 50 mg/ml then it's 50 mg per ml

Like you, early on I thought it would be a good idea to mix up some base so I could just add flavor when I felt like brewing something up. Nothing wrong with it except it ties your hands so to speak by preventing you from trying different nic levels or pg/vg ratios, at least until your next order.

You will find out too that getting the flavor to your liking will be a trial and error process Some are good at 1% such as TFA Caramel Cappucino and others may need as much as 15% so best practice is to get a bunch of 5 or 10 ml dropper bottles and make 5 ml batches with pg and vg without nic and add flavor to each bottle at increasing increments, say 5% in one bottle, 7% in the next and so on for as many samples as you want to make. Let them sit for a week, shake daily and then test them to see which level tastes best. There is a Flavor West thread in this sub forum so you may be able to find a good starting point for your flavors there.

Measuring for such small batches will require syringes of the 1 ml, 3 ml and 10 ml sizes for ease and accuracy, especially 1 ml for the flavors. 7% flavor in a 5 ml sample batch is .35 ml. You can't measure that accurately without a 1 ml syringe.

Patience is key when starting. I know it's exciting and the urge to make a 30 ml bottle right out of the gate is hard to resist but take it from someone who's been there, you will have fewer disappointments and quicker success if you follow my advice and nail down your preferred potency for each individual flavor via the small test batch method, and waste much less nic as well. When you get oh so close and feel a minor tweak is all it will take, realize that what may seem like a small difference can be much more than you think. Example: from 5% to 7.5% seems miniscule when really it's a 50% jump in flavor. Read Hoosiers blogs. He has good advice about "butterfly farts"
