I've been reading on this forum for hours now, and I do mean hours. I still have some questions that I'm hoping some of you can answer.
Does anyone know if the SideSho from Moder Vapors is a 510 model?

Being a newbie to e-cigs, would you choose a Riva 510, Joye 510, or an Ego?

Do you recommend using cartos or cartridges and atomizers? Is one more cost effective than another?

What do you think of the tank system?

Where did you guys purchase your 510?

Have you heard of Liberty-flights.com?

Can you purchase those cute custom batteries at other sites or do you have to use the one that comes with your kit?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Being new, I'd go the same route I went as well as what I introduced to 6 of my friends and family who also started vaping. SmokelessImage.com Volt series kits. They're 808 batteries with just the battery and cartomizer- 2 pieces and easy. Fantastic customer support, great products and am very satisfied with them.
They also have the X2 which are the larger passthrough batteries with the clearomizer tanks which work wonderfully. Got mine in the other day :)

But if you've decided on going 510, I can't personally help you. Never bought one, but have read/heard a lot of great things about the Ego so you probably have a good choice there.

--Don't know as I've never tried one

Being a newbie to e-cigs, would you choose a Riva 510, Joye 510, or an Ego?
--Riva or Kgo are 3.7v devices so they give a better, warmer vapor than the standard eGo, which is 3.2v

Do you recommend using cartos or cartridges and atomizers? Is one more cost effective than another?
--Cartomizers are easier, more consistent, cheaper and taste better than atties and carts

What do you think of the tank system?
--There are all kinds of tank systems, some good, some not so good. If you want a good tank check MadVapes or Phiniac

Where did you guys purchase your 510?
--MyVaporStore, Liberty-Flights, VaporKings, GoodProphets, MadVapes

Have you heard of Liberty-flights.com?
--Very good vendor

Can you purchase those cute custom batteries at other sites or do you have to use the one that comes with your kit?
--You can buy replacement batteries singly without buying a kit.

Whew

-I'm not familiar with that model.

Being a newbie to e-cigs, would you choose a Riva 510, Joye 510, or an Ego?
-I prefer 510 connection. I chose a E-Power 14650 as my first and present mod (APV).

Do you recommend using cartos or cartridges and atomizers? Is one more cost effective than another?
-I like low resistance XL sized cartos for the convenience and variety available.

What do you think of the tank system?
-Haven't tried one but they look fine to me. I never vape more than 3ml of juice per day so the two and sometimes three cartos per day is fine for me.

Where did you guys purchase your 510?
-Hoosier e-cig supply

Have you heard of Liberty-flights.com?
Yes. Most of things I hear are positive.

Can you purchase those cute custom batteries at other sites or do you have to use the one that comes with your kit?
-Actually, I purchase standard cylindrical protected Li-ion batteries as the E-Power 14650 is a tube mod (APV). I find better batteries than those provided as OEM at less cost directly from a supplier in China. These cost about 25% as much as the cute custom batteries that are combinations of battery, tube and/or switch.

New here as well ...

I started with a kit similar to Optics but from Vapor4Life. I agree that they're a simple and easy intro to vaping. However I moved up to an ego 900mah and tank kit within 2 months after trying a friends setup. The vape from a tank is not as dry as one from a pre-filled cart to me. I don't have any of the dry throat issues I had with the pre-filled.

The kit I got is here Ego Dual Coil Cartomizer 3.5 mL Tank Kit. I have really been enjoying it so far. Only minor issues with one carto not wicking properly out of about 15 so far. Other than that it's been great. I tend to vape 2-3 different flavors during the day and drive a lot, so the two batteries work out well. I find I only need to charge about every other day. As long as you're putting a few drops into the carto first (5-10), filling the tank and letting the filler saturate, you'll be good to go.

On the cartos: I only use the single holed ones as I have read of many flooding issues with the three holed cartos. I vape everything from high PG to high VG and have had no real problems at all. You can still find the single holed at madvapes and other vendors, you just may have to search around. I have found them as cheap as about 1.75 a carto and they last me for several days to a couple weeks without any loss of vapor or flavor.

Welcome to ECF from another newbie !

If you're concerned about cost I suggest you look at the E-Power. A true 3.7 volt PV with batteries that are separate from the unit. E-Power is just as good as the Riva/ Kgo but Riva/ Kgo batteries are $15- $20 apiece while the batts for the E-Power are $5.00. Regarding batts 100 mah= 1 hour normal vaping before recharge.

Good Luck.

Hi Tiffany & Welcome to ECF! If you're interested in the E-Power 14650 they are available here: 14650 Black Carto Kit Or the Stainless model is one click away on that same site. Sweet-Vapes also offers the KGO 1100mAh Kit and several others as well, but you might find better pricing available on those. I bought the E-Power there myself & have been using it happily for well over 6 months now. If you do order this (or any of this power range) kit I highly recommend avoiding the dual coil cartos and instead opt for the low resistance 1.5 - 2.0 Ohm cartos. Also they are not pre-filled so you will need some e-liquid to fill them. I'd suggest getting sample packs of small bottles, various flavors to find what you like.

Best of luck, & Happy Vaping! :vapor:

Personally if you want a cig-sized e-cig I'd suggest looking into the Volt from Smokless Image. I've never used one but they get a lot of good reviews, they're 2-pc (cartos rather than cartridge/atty setup, which is antiquated & cumbersome), and a bit more powerful. As for the eGo, if you're considering that size I'd look at the KGO or Riva with a 1100 mAh battery; they run at 3.7 volts where the eGo only runs at around 3.4. Also I believe you'll find the KGO costs a bit less that the eGo, at least for a comparable-sized battery.

Good luck & Happy Vaping! :vapor:

..... I'm still torn on whether to get a regular 510 or a Ego and whether to go with carto's or carts and atties.

Get the eGo or kgo or e-power, there's nothing as frustrating as trying to not smoke, standing tapping your foot, waiting for a tiny battery to finish charging.....(yup I did..:)) Cartos or attys wear out, you can try both, see what you like better. Attys are great for trying out a new flavor before soaking a perfectly good carto with a juice that you can't stand the flavor...

p.s. Welcome to ECF !!

just thought of another question. if I get an Ego and decide I also want the Joye 510 size, can I just buy the battery part and not a new starter kit? Won't all the carts and stuff fit both of them?

Yes, physically they will fit... at least the cartos or attys, etc. The problem you'd likely run into is, with a larger battery you're able to run lower resistance cartos & attys so what you'd probably have on your eGo kit would be maybe 2.0 Ohm, and the lowest you'd want to (safely) run on a cig-sized 510 is around 2.5 or so. There are a number of good reasons cig-sized batteries get rather tiresome in a hurry & lots of folks (perhaps most) move up to larger batteries after just a few weeks.

So is the KGO compatible with the EGO stuff?

Make sure that you get the right chargers for the batteries. The joye 510(ciggie size) battery will fit, but will be damaged by the charger for the ego battery.

Sometimes it's best to get the starter kits as they have everything matched in them. The cartos and atty/carts are consumables, plan ahead on ordering because you might go thru a few of each every week.

"""just thought of another question. if I get an Ego and decide I also want the Joye 510 size, can I just buy the battery part and not a new starter kit? Won't all the carts and stuff fit both of them?"""

Yes, anything labeled 510 will fit both. 2.5ohm for the joye510-2.5,2.0ohm for the ego.
