Thanks for looking at my post.

I've just upgraded by PV and have typically been using 3.7v previously and now trying to use 6v. I don't particularly like dripping in short so need a cartomiser / tank style system but I don't know the OHM that is needed to stop the terrible burning taste I experience on the 3.0 - 3.2 OHM clearomisers and cartomisers I've been using. I've resorted to reverting back to 3.7v to avoid the nasty taste but really want the better vapour and taste experience so many vapers talk about using high voltage. I'm using a Puresmoker Prodigy 3.1 with 510 fit.

Please, if you have any recommendations or advise I would love to hear from you.

Ikenvape has hv atty for 2 ranges. I think 5-6v and 7-8v. I know when I charge my 2-3v (=6v) batteries for my ggtb they are quite a bit higher when they start off freshly charged. My volt meter has them each at about 3.4, 3.5 which would be vaping at 7v which always made my sweet juice taste burned until they drained a bit.

I've found that at 6v I want around a 3.5 ohm atty. It probably wouldn't hurt to go to 4 ohm but they're kind of hard to find but IkenVape might have them. One thing I do using that setup is take really short hits and it helps to keep from burning the juice. As far as HV carto's, I'm not sure where to find them since I don't use carto's if I can help it.

It's not the voltage but the wattage (power) that counts. Using a high ohm atomiser at high volts is exactly the same as using a low ohm atomiser at lower volts. EG a 1.8 Ohm atomiser at 3.7v gives 7.6 watts of power. A 3.2 ohm atomiser at 5v gives 7.8 watts of power. The higher the power (watts) the more vapour, the less taste and the more chance of a burning taste.

Incidentally, if you could make a 1600 ohm atomiser you could run it off the mains at 110v and still get 7.5 watts. You would only need thin connector wires at that voltage as the amperage is only 68 mA compared with the whopping 2 amps at 3.7 v.

I knew Ohms law would come in handy for something. Remember that the relationship of voltage to power is a square not linear. If you double the voltage, for the same resistance the power is quadrupled. The relationship of power to resistance though is linear, so if you halve the resistance you get twice the power.

In your case, vaping at 6v. you will need an 8 Ohm atomiser to replicate 3.7 v vaping at 3.2 Ohms.

Here is one supplier in the UK:

That's a 4.2 ohm device

If you are going to do 6VT vaping you need the HV attys to bring that wattage down. 6 VT with a 4.5 ohm atty will give you abt 8 watts which is where a lot of people seem to find their sweet spot with some of their liquids You're between 11-12 watts using 3-3.2 ohm attys on a 6 VT PV which will give a nasty taste to a lot of liquids. Good luck finding what works best for you !

The reason why around 5 volt vaping is considered the "sweet spot" is because 6 volts is too high and gives you the result that you have experienced. I know nhaler.com also has HV attys that I think are about 4.0 resistence. Personally, you would have been better served to have gotten either a good 5 volt PV such as the GLV2 from Great Lakes Vapor or one of the better variable volt PV's such as the Darwin.

I commonly vape at 6 volt and more - I use 2.8, 3.0, 3.2. I, personally, wouldn't go > 3.5. But that's me. Clearly I desire a very strong hit with vapor and the whole she-bang. I burn atty's - it is rare that one will last more than 2 weeks but that is how I like it. If you go beyond a certain ohm on an atty it is true, you might as well be vaping 3.7 with a 1.8 or so. I do what I do to get just about the highest wattage possible, I like it that way. I find there are juices that don't work well at these voltages but not too many - I vape tobacco flavors. I am not saying this is for you but it may be what works for some.

Noone has mentioned yet that ce2's are NOT HV friendly without modding. They don't wick fast enough to keep up with the higher power. I'll stick with 3.7 myself, but if the 3.2ohm ce2's don't work on a 5-6v devise then pitch em, or sell em on the classifieds. Sorry man. I don't know of any HV carto's I could recommend. If they're regular sized ce2's and not XL's I'll take them off your hands.
