Hi. Sorry for diving in so blunt, but thus is my need. I dropped my Alien mod last weekend and the stupid door issue, out popped the batteries, and I put them back incorrectly (beer was involved). Next day, the batteries are dead dead dead. On a reader they read 0. My questions are twofold. Can my batteries be ressurected with a boost charger or are they just toast for my stupidity? Second, my husband thinks I can get by using old laptop batteries for now (we are stretched to the limit) but I'm really nervous. These batteries have about 25% life in them, no more...

Batteries that read 0 voltage should be scraped and recycled. Laptop batteries make very poor e-cig batteries, they carry a higher capacity but as a trade off they have a low amperage output. E-cig batteries need a high amperage output but as a trade off have a lower capacity. Buy new batteries.

no,no,no,laptop batteries are for,a slow constant power, vaping batteries need to sporadically jump to super high levels, the batteries in drills are similar to vape batteries,as that needs to power up,but never ever use laptop batteries,5 years ago when 20 watts was a high vape, yes you could of used them, but any higher, your asking for trouble, and definitely no in something like a Alien...as for your batteries making a come back, some do and some dont, but i guarantee the advice youll get is replace them ASAP

I resurrect my rc lipo batteries with a old nihm charger only for about 5 min in a safe fireproof place under constant supervision until they read over 3.2 then into a normal charger. It works but always be prepared for the worse case scenario just in case. Be careful nihm charger won't cut off at 4.2 and will over charge batteries. 3.2 or just over is all you need for your normal charger to start giving them juice.

I take no responsibility for the result of bodily harm or scorched personal property.

This is not a good idea either.

Medea, I understand that you are on a tight budget. Have you considered buying batteries on line? Shipping may take a few days but, I have bought from these folks a few times. They are good to deal with. You can get some top quality Sony "high discharge " batteries for about $6.00 ea..
Batteries, Chargers, and PowerPax Carriers

I hope this helps.

Have you put the into your regular charger and they don't take a charge? If so then scrap them and look online like suggested you should be able to find some Samsung 25R or LG H4 at a decent price or the afore mentioned Sonys. I wouldn't even try batteries that are not approved for vaping or you may have an even more expensive problem with having to replace your mod or worse

@Medea

There is a lot of good advice above. But I'll explain why as it stands those batteries are not safe for two reasons.

1) Putting them reverse of what they are supposed to be in the mod, has run the risk you have shorted the batteries internally to where they have discharged below safe internal voltage.
2) Most Li-Ion batteries we use in vaping safely operate in the range of 2.5v lowest possible voltage to 4.2v highest freshened charge. Once a Li-Ion battery goes below 2.5v the electrolyte (chemicals that allow electrons to flow between positive and negative ends of a battery depending on charge or discharge) being acidic begins to break down the cathode and anode terminals inside (positive and negative inside a battery) into its solution and the liquid begins to crystalize, these micro crystals and micro metal particles can cause micro-shorting internal and lead to a full on thermal runaway that can not be stopped once started. Rapid rise in internal temperature, literally a compressed liquid fire happens internally that can raise the battery to 2nd and 3rd degree burn temperatures in milli-seconds to full on couple seconds then literally "KABOOM" after it vents like a roman candle. Reading at 0.0v, there is literally an internal unwelding of either the internal cathode or anode already, so the battery can not be rescued, would be another story if in the 2.0 to 2.5v range, but flat 0.0v the battery is dead.

I know of no trusted online vendors in Latin America further south than Mexico, but if close to Mexico you could try illumn.com, imrbatteries.com, Liionwholesale.com, orbtronic.com, or RTDVapor.com, and if you know someone close in Mexico have it shipped to their address and pick up the package, wouldn't hurt to ask the listed vendors via email or such if they ship to your region, illumn, imrbatteries, and Liionwholesale especially are very customer friendly and might work with you, biggest problem is they can't ship Li-Ion batteries via air transit, would be ground or boat shipping only to reach you or the shipping destination.

As the reason for my disagreement with your post has already been comprehensively stated by @IMFire3605 I will just state my +1 in full disagreement with your assertion that we can safely resurrect this member's batteries for vaping based on your experience with rc batteries. Please read the post by @IMFire3605 and try to avoid giving potentially dangerous advice in the future.

Thank you everyone for the fast responses. I've been nervous about the notebook batteries but, as I said, we are stretched to the limit this month... I think I will use my IJustS battery until we can new batteries for my Alien. Goodbye flavour, Hello hot vape :) but oh well

I'm sorry your having problems with both batteries and finances. It's never easy and it always seems Murphy's law takes effect at times we can least afford it.

I'll pray for you all, that's the best I can do for you at this time. Here's to hoping you can make it through on the ijust until you can get good batteries.

While inconvenient and not the very best, it's so much better that your safe - and stay safe.

+1.Your mod batteries should be recycled, and you should not use laptop batteries. Laptop batteries are not appropriate for vaping as they do not have the ampacity required. Sorry for the bad news, and welcome to the board.

IMR batteries has the LG, 25R, and other good name brands usually for $5 or less plus shipping. If you can just cut back somewhere in the monthly budget for $20-$25, you could prob get a set of 4.. I haven’t checked recently, but I’m sure prices haven’t changed much. IMR, Liion, etc also have sales. Check the major suppliers. You may be surprised at what’s available.
