Hi everyone. I'm just trying to figure out what brand/model I should purchase. I've never owned an e-cig. I expect that I will be using heavily. I've already purchased the juice from Johnson Creek? WI because the Chinese juice scares the heck out of me.

Specifically, I want to know what e-cig I need to get that won't go kaput in a month (if this is even possible)? Worst case, whose e-cigs have the most reliable atomizer? I figure if I only need to replace the battery a lot, I won't get too frustrated to stick with it.

Lots of choices. Here's some of my recommendations from another thread:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...oking-pointed-right-direction.html#post453625

Janty and dietsmokes offer good warranties.

Usually not a good idea to direct newbies to a "mod" (something that doesn't look like a cigarette but is built to vape) but you seem to know what you're looking for. So...

While I still like having the 510 as a 'regular cigarette' feel, the Janty Stick is my favorite vape - longer battery life, bigger cartridge, lots of vapor and while the look isn't like a cigarette, the experience of vaping is.

Still you can't go wrong with a 510, imo. I got one for a friend who doesn't post here, doesn't surf the net for ecig info, knew nothing about ecigs and is vaping away without a problem.

Hef;
You're gonna get a boat load of posts saying get this, and get that. Some people will tell you to get something that they have never had themselves. I suggest you check out the reviews forum. See what's available, what looks good to you, and then ask for opinions. There are so many to choose from, and everyone has different tastes. No matter what you decide on, there is someone here to help you with it.
Cheers;
jd

Sigh...

Nobody should be answering your question without asking you the following:
--What brand of cigarettes do you smoke now?
--How many of them do you smoke?
--Do you think it just HAS to look like a cigarette, or close to it?
--Do you think you will mind pushing a button if it meant better performance?

And by the way, I haven't heard about any particular atomizers being more reliable than others.
Well, for the most part anyway.

Here is what I have learned from what I have, in my brief vaping career:sneaky::

Red Dragon: looks like a regular cigarette, performs fairly well, cartridges cost a mint and are a royal pain to put more juice into.

M401--feels most like dragging on a filtered Virginia burley (to me). Batteries keep their charge for a decent amount of time. Cartridges have a little insert that makes the amount of fiber very small, and you need needle-nosed tweezers to get the insert out and reload it. Good vapor, mild taste.

510 (Mine is a Dura-C): Button on battery gives you better control over when the battery goes off, but it only holds a charge for an hour or so, ime. Really good throat hit, good vapor. Feels the least like smoking, though, if that is what you are going for.

801: Great big battery and great big cartridge. Mouthpiece is a whistle tip, and it is larger than the others--sort of the size of a felt-tipped pen. Nice and mellow with an extremely easy draw--makes me understand why people like pipes. The vapor is massive,, but the flavor is mild--if there is a liquid that is too harsh in both the 510 and the 401, it is fine in the 801--but if you are looking for throat hit, look elsewhere.

As for atomizers--so far they are all working. The ones that were not working when I opened the packages began to work after I baptized them in mouthwash.

Frankly, those questions are mostly irrelevant. I know I once said that was a good idea, but I've been disabused of the idea as more evidence shows up. Even if they 'mind' pushing a button. What do they know? :) And most that 'minded' it in the first place got some POS ecig and hated it - some likely just went back to analogs and never heard from again.

Tailoring an ecig to people's preferences who don't know a thing about it, costs them more money, they end up with parts they can't use later, and we've seen this happen time and again. After finding out how what they 'wanted' sucked, many ended up with the 510 or a mod anyway. The 510 is still be the best first buy in most cases.

Sigh...

Nobody should be answering your question without asking you the following:
--What brand of cigarettes do you smoke now?
How does this question pertain to either a device or a juice? None of the devices say Marlboro on them and no juice tastes anything like cigarettes on the market.
--How many of them do you smoke?
Again how does this influence what device or juice to buy...it doesn't even help with Mg of nicotine.
--Do you think it just HAS to look like a cigarette, or close to it?
Don't see how this matters much as most vapers after they start realize there is more to it than look and the ones that look most like cigarettes perform the worst in most cases.
--Do you think you will mind pushing a button if it meant better performance?
Maybe they will maybe they won't ...so why not let them know about the options available.Button or not they will come to realize that with control over their battery it will be a better experience.

And by the way, I haven't heard about any particular atomizers being more reliable than others.
Well, for the most part anyway.

They need to decide for themselves what may be best and by many people giving answers they might just find some good information regardless of what and how they smoke now.

I disagree with both of you, vehemently.
But yeah, let's just tell everyone what they want without finding out what they need.

That's a freaking winner.

If they change their mind later, so be it.
But at least I have no intention of dictating what others might need.

We all get different things from smoking.
And we all need different things from smoking.
And ignoring that is just plain ignorant.

Bullcrap.

All you're doing is confusing them even more.
If you want them to do all the research themselves, don't answer their questions.

I can do sarc:
Maybe your right. Let them waste a bunch of money on something that doesn't work and send them back to tobacco. That's a freakin' winner for sure.

DC2, I thought I framed my reply in terms of what we've seen here and perhaps experienced ourselves. We disagree, but you don't have to go sarcastic about it. And you could drop the 'sigh' too.

Kent is right. Get a manual PV whatever you do. For a newbie I would go with the 510 or the new manual DSE901 if you want the warm vapor that is closes to the real thing.

This supplier sells both, has free shipping, good prices and good service:

Rocky Mountain Vapor you have reached the mountain top of electronic cigarettes! : Home

Thanks. I'd include the manual 901 and 801 too. But they 'don't look exactly like a cigarette'. It's those that do, that is the problem here, in general.

No, actually, I can't drop the sigh.
And sarcasm is what I use when I get really .......

And I was talking to Talen more than you, but you were somewhat included.

If that is what everyone around here wants to do, and just tell everyone what they need, then have at it. But to assume we already know what a smoker's habits are, and why they smoke, and how often they smoke, and how that might translate to the various pluses and minuses of the various options available, along with all the rest of the variables that come with all the different models... well, screw me into a lightsocket and call me a lightbulb.

Again, have at it.

But if I am going to get ****ed with for asking what I think are relevant questions, then I'll leave the vast majority of posters here to recommend the 510 for everyone who ever stumbles across this forum.

And in the end, that is probably the best model right now for most.
But it sure isn't for everyone, and there are reasons for that.

And once the 801 and 901 and 401 manual batteries are generally available, what then?

And to expand on that, why not just recommend a mod to everyone?

Well, I don't give a crap about battery life.
I smoked FIVE freaking cigarettes every day for 25 years.
My 510 battery lasts me all day almost.

And I don't give a crap about extra double flavor, so I don't want an 801 model.
And I don't want ANYTHING, EVER that does not look like a cigarette, so I won't be getting a mod.

Well, unless that awesome juice feeder that tinear made goes into production.
Because yeah, my main and most serious issue is wicking.
In fact, my only issue is wicking.

And that is because I use this thing for a certain purpose.
And that purpose is not for nicotine, it is for taking smoke breaks.

And because of that purpose, I use this thing differently than most here.
And because of that I have different issues than most here.
And because of that I have different perspectives and solutions.

But none of that matters if we assume everyone has the same needs.
Which they simply do not.

If that's all you pulled from my post then I don't know what to say.

Please tell us then how knowing what brand of cigarette someone smoked is a relevant question? Or answer the rest of the questions I asked.

I smoked 3 packs of marlboro lights a day...what ecig should I use?

So I guess it doesn't matter whether someone smoked Viginia Slim ultra lights or American Spirits?
If you believe that then I don't know what to tell you.

I smoked 3 packs of marlboro lights a day...what ecig should I use?
I asked four questions, and I would have asked a bunch more as a follow up if they had been answered.
So your question above is not really relevant when taken in context.
