I own the Blu Premium100 pack, and I would like to start vaping with liquids, instead of the pre-filled cartomizers they sell because there are very limited flavor options. I've been reading online about what kind of cartomizer I should get, but I'm very confused with all of the new words I'm seeing.

I would really like to get a clear cartomizer ("clearomizer") so that I can see how much liquid I have left... I've been reading that 510 thread and 3 ohms are the best for a Blu Premium100 battery, but I would really like to make sure that this is correct because I don't want to end up spending money on the wrong thing. And if anyone knows of a specific brand of a clearomizer that would work, please let me know.

I would greatly appreciate feedback!

Boge cartomizers are probably what you need (510 connection). There was a recent spat of issues with them which looks to have gotten cleared up and they are generally very well regarded. For a Blu battery, I'd probably stick with something lower (2.4 ohms) for a balance of throat hit, vapor production and flavor (though that is also influenced by your juice). At 3ohms on a batter like that, you won't get much of anything in those areas.

To be honest, I'd just as soon recommend that you avoid Blu and go for something better (but, if you've been here for more than a day, I'm sure you would expect that). Ultimately while the Blu is a nice looking cigarette-look-a-like, it's highly under-powered and I'm sure you've noticed how little the batteries last. If you're stuck on that size, you might consider the Volt, Bloog or Smoov which even us vaping snobs generally hold in higher regard than the Blu (and the price, juices and color choices for the battery are better).

I personally quit smoking with Blu disposables (the best kind of Blu there is in IMO), so I can't knock 'em altogether, but if you enjoy vaping and are already interested in exploring other flavors, you would do well to upgrade to something that will really allow you to enjoy the experience.

Oh, and I'm not much into cartos myself so I can't tell you exactly where to pick up the Boges at the best price. What I can tell you is that most vendors carry them. I'm sure someone here can point you in the right direction.

Good luck!

IkenVape 510 platinum Bogs had a huge following but lately everyone says they now suck. I was a smoktek fan I got them from https://www.ecigcharleston.com/one-page-checkout.asp Clear cartomizers aren't all that great. Stick with stainless. you can tell when they get low you'll pick it up quickly and have 3 or 4 ready at all times it was a morning ritual for me when I was strictly a carto guy then I discovered tube mods and carto tanks Thanks for reminding of the good old days last Spring ;-) PS look up the condom cartomizer fill method on youtube makes it super easy!

That was very helpful! Thank you so much.
Yes, I've heard about the low regard for Blu's. I was about a pack a day smoker. If you could recommend an electronic cigarette in terms of battery life (I don't mind a bigger size, the Blu is just what I started with) that would be great. I would like to use liquid.

Bear with me... I'm new :p
I don't know the battery capacity for Blu. But like most mini e-cigs, I'm guessing its between 200mAh-280mAh.

If you vape a lot, a 200mAh battery will last about 2 hrs.
A 650mAh battery will last about 6 hrs.
A 900mAh battery will last about 9 hrs. You get the idea. But it also depends on how much you vape.

Oh, and welcome to ECF :D !

A clear cartomizer (such as a smoktech) and a clearomizer are two very very different things. The wicking material in a cartomizer is made of polyfill. The wicking material in a clearomizer is literally a wick with a coil wrapped around it and it's made usually of silica and sometimes ceramic unless you rebuild one yourself with cotton or bamboo yarn (better).

I should also point out that BLU is now owned by Lorillard - the makers of Newport and Kent cigarettes, as well as a bevy of value priced cigarettes. Please don't support Big Tobacco's infiltration into the ecig market. They've made more than enough money off of being death-dealers. I recommend you get a real e-cig with a quickness. I recommend the eGo Twist (x2 you gotta have a backup).

I started with the Blu also and moved up to an Ego 650 mah battery just over a month ago. The Ego 650 mah with a Blu cartomizer is not that much longer than the Blu you have, the battery is just a little fatter. I still had some Blu cartomizers left and using them on the Ego, they vaped much better. I have found the additional options with the Ego much better. The flavor of dripping onto a low resistance atomizer is unbeatable, totally blows the nasty flavor of those Blu cartomizers away. I've tried other cartomizers, too, but after dripping they all seem to have that filler taste to them. When dripping is inconvenient, I use a Vivi Nova Mini clearomizer, which can hold almost 2 mls of liquid, enough for most of a day for me.

One thing I found when purchasing liquid, I started with too much nicotine, 24 mg, and found it was way too much compared to the nicotine in a Blu cartomizer, which I think is 11 mg. I've now moved down to ~11mg juice, and it prevents the nausea and headaches with over nicing. Good luck and keep asking questions. I have found the community at ECF to be a lifesaver . . . literally.

So this has a cartomizer and not a clearomizer, correct?
And I would have to purchase backup EGO cartomizers?

What you've linked to is a clearomizer. It has everything you need, you just need to fill it with juice. Cartomizers are like the Blu cartridges, they have a cotton-like filler and the heating coil is inside there somewhere. The CE4 clearomizer has the heating coil at the top where the wicks lead to. Those wicks pull the juice from the surrounding tank to the heating coil. If you go this route, get some extra clearomizers. My first CE4 started leaking after a week.

Can I use any cartomizer with an Ego? I'm asking where I would purchase them and what specifically I would be buying. I've been looking, and there are so many options that I'm afraid to purchase the wrong thing.

For whatever you purchase, just look for "510 threading" in the description. Your Blu has 510 threading, as does the Ego battery. Check the supplier forum, most of them will have what you are looking for. I got my started kit from LiteCigUSA.net, but you can get what you need from just about any of the online store, batteries, charger, cartomizers, clearomizers, and a whole lot more you'll soon be purchasing like I did :p

Hi!
Welcome and congrats! Personally, I think the boge cartomizers would give you a good start! You can get a box of 5 here for $5.99 with free shipping:
Boge 510 LR (1 Box) - Stainless
Other vendors carry them as well. This one has good prices on larger quantities also. You will also want to get some juices and probably a drip tip to use on the top instead of the plastic top that comes with them. You can find those for a few dollars and they will last practically forever! I use the condom fill method (do a youtube search). That will fill them up completely. When they start to seem a bit dry, I drip 4 or 5 drops on the top of the filler material, avoiding the center hole. The liquid will soak in and refill it. I think this simulates smoking more than a clearomizer or any other advanced devices as it seems more like taking a drag on a filter.

An ego battery is also good. If you don't mind a larger size, I would go with a twist and also the highest mah (milli amp hours). All that means is more battery power and less time between charges. I am not sure if you can use your blu charger on it or not as I am not familiar with blu! The benefit of the twist is that you just twist the bottom of the battery and it gets "stronger" or "weaker". That gives you more control over the end result. You can dial it to where you like it. That may also change with different juices. You will get different results and can even burn the filler material if you turn it up too high or let the cartomizer get too dry. I find that when the cartomizer gets older, it can get weaker and clogged, so turning it up will let you get a bit more use out of them.

As you go along, you may decide to try different things. A cartomizer tank will feed the juice into the cartomizer so that you won't have to drip more liquid on the top. And, there are also many other "goodies" to buy and try. But, I think the cartomizers are the cheapest and easiest to use. Some people will even clean them to make them last a really long time! Unfortunately, you can not really try a lot of different juices in them. Once you fill them up with one juice, you are stuck with that juice in that carto. Sometimes, you can put in a stronger juice and have it take over. For example, I had some cake batter juice that I liked. After a while, I decided it was a bit bland. So, I added a little cinnamon bun to the top. After that, I could only taste cinnamon bun, even though I kept adding in more cake batter.

By going this route, you open yourself up to a whole world of new flavors! There are thousands of them to choose from! It can be a lot of fun trying out different juices! Most of all, have fun! You can make it as complicated or as simple as you want! Most things are cheap enough to try out. I watch a lot of youtube reviews. You can actually watch someone do whatever it is in "person." I find it much easier that way, to actually see it being done!
