I've been using cheapo clearomizers from the gas station (not many options where I live) but cleaning them isn't easy, they don't end up tasting great afterwards and vapor isn't great either. The battery I have is a 650 mah 24-7 brand. I'm new to vaping but having realized I love it and don't want a normal cigarette when I vape, I'm ready to get something better. Can I use the batteries I already have and just get a nice tank? I can't figure out what thread is on my battery. Or even if a 650 mah is what I even need. So, do I use what batteries I've got and get a better tank? Do I just spend more and get a kit? I'd hate to waste what I've already bought! Anyone know a good brand that's decent price? I think I know what I need.... a nice clearomizer or tank that I can replace coils and everything in right? Man I get confused with this stuff a little still. Ugh. Any advice would be awesome! Thanks!

650 mAh isn't a whole lot of battery power.

For about 20-30 bucks you can get a nice, new starter kit. The gas station quality ones are usually Chinese knockoffs, and aren't really meant to be washed/re-used extensively. The coils don't last long (and often aren't replaceable), and usually aren't that great from the start.

I highly recommend looking into getting something like an eGo Twist with something like a mini protank. It'll be a SERIOUS upgrade from gas station quality e-cigs.

Your battery appears to have 510 and Ego threads. You could get a new better kit, but if you like the way the CE4 style clearo works you could just get a CE5 which has replaceable coil heads. There are quite a few clearos/tanks with 510/ego threads and replaceable coil heads you could get though. I'll leave others give suggestions, I'm not sure what's all out there now.

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on making a move away from the smokes!
I'm new here myself, so my input is to be taken lightly.
Move away from the 'gas station' stuff and get a real starter kit through the internet or a specialty shop in your area. There are lots of them in the $50 range that will give you a good experience when combined with quality juice. That will help you stay away from the smokes while you figure out if you want to jump into vaping with both feet.
I started 3 months ago with a basic ego kit: 2 batteries, 2 tanks, and a charger. I found a juice that worked for me and haven't had a smoke since. I got an Innokin Mvp2 just a few days ago because the ego batteries were getting weak, and I've found some great juices in the meantime.
Hope this helps.

Hit the reply button before I was finished lol. Anyway, the tank, I can just clean it out and replace the coils and such when it needs it rite?

Not sure who you're asking, but in case it's me, yes, that's how a CE5 or equivalent works. Btw, if you want to reply to someone in particuar, just click on "reply with Quote" at the lower right of their post before you write out your message. Then the quoted post will show in your post and others wil know who you are talking to, just an fyi.

Yep! ProTank (including the mini) coils are pretty cheap, and the tank is glass. You can just pop it open, unscrew the head (coil) and then toss that grimy old coil in the garbage. Then it's just a matter of rinsing it all off with some water, dry it off, fill 'er up, replace the coil and BAM! Good as new!

The mini protank is definitely a good choice, but make sure you get the one with the adjustable airflow control. The older versions are kind of meh, and you will have a harder time finding replacement coils for the older versions.

+ on the MVP.
It is now my recomended choice for any new vapor just starting or one wanting to upgrade. It will take you a long ways on your walk. Can be had for around $40 for the kit, comes with a iclear 30 tank or multiple iClear16 Clearomizers, either will one be an upgrade from what you are currently using.
Plus if you phone ever dies you can charge from your mvp if you can't get to a charger currently:) just one little used side benifit.
May seem like allot but will save you even more in little used/thrown out equipment in the long run if you continue vaping.
Just my 2cents.

Im also relatively new and from what i gather most tanks seem to come with a 510 thread which is what most batteries have.
Just a matter of knowing the thread your tank/clearomizer has and the thread your battery has - Most ego batteries i think have a 510 and ego thread.
I use a nautilus tank and bvc's that i change. Someone else i know uses disposable ce4 clearmosiers. Most of what i read suggests the variable voltage batteries are the way to go
