I use the cotton filler from cigarette toobs. The ones you use to fill your own.

I have used everything that is out there and these are the easiest and last the longest of any.

They wick well. They hold good amount of juice. I use them on 6v and 3.7 devices without any problems at all..

No taste and they are safe. Don't get brittle. I use them for a week at a time..

I tried normal polyfill, spring-mod polyfill, straw-mod polyfill and tea bags.

Your question is one of the few questions that are easy for me to answer. Straw-mod polyfill lasts longest for me.

You will have to find out your own preferences on the journey to your own "perfect" vape, grasshopper :)

Hi:)
When you say polyfill I take it you mean the stuff you get the emnpty 510 carts pre-filled with when you buy online?

Is the straw mod the one where you cut up a cotton wool bud (think you call them a q tip over the pond?) and insert it alongside your filler?

cigarette filters last the longest for me.

I've tried straw/poly, pyramid tea bags and I ended up buying 200 packs of premier filter tips online. the bag cost me 2.50USD. top sells large bags also, but I couldn't get a better price for the tops brand.

Depending on the cart i'm using IE 510, 901 etc I just strip off some of the filter to fit. No stray fibers or anything like and its so easy.

My carts last almost double the time straw/poly lasted for me. I no longer get the poly burn taste and the wicking is amazing.

That's a tough question.

I am still new to this ( 1 month ). From reading the mod threads, got right on the PTB, works good but reuse can be limiting( for me). I may be doing this wrong but have been going thru at least one box of PTB's already.
I've found, so far, that what seems to work for me is a combo.
I use the filler from the flat carts (510) that I have, cover them with a small piece of PTB, and use the straw method.
The combination may seem like a lot to pack into a small cart but it's been doing a good job so far, and easily washable to reuse.
Funny how this has, in such a short time turned into a routine of finding the 'perfect' cart filler. I would like to just settle in and vape with one perfect cart mod but I know there will be more to try.
hey, it still beats smoking analogs. So happy to have found this :D

Marineland Aquarium filter foam sleeves size U. I can fit 26 drops in my 510 and can get upwards of 75-100 puffs on one cart. Its kind of tricky to figure out the exact size to cut the foam to prevent leaking, but once you get it its so quick, easy, and long lasting. Plus, after a couple days you just rinse it in hot water and its good to go again! Poly-fill sucks, tea bags are ok but it takes to long and its really tedious. Blue foam is by far the best.

Could you please let me know what you consider the longest lasting cartridge filler? (seem to need to refill mine very quickly)

Short answer: Shredded PTB! Click here for the details.

There are two factors affecting how long a cartridge lasts:

1) (Generally the most important.) How well the material "wicks" the liquid to the atomizer. If the filler doesn't wick well, it won't matter how much the cartridge holds - after using just a bit of the juice in it you'll need to top up.

2) How much liquid you can put into the cartridge. For most materials this isn't a big factor. With polyester fibers (the stuff cartridges come with) or PTB, the filler material takes an insignificant percentage of the space in the cartridge. You'll get well over 90% as much liquid into the cartridge with these fillers in place as you would with an empty cartridge.

Some other factors come into play in this. You don't want a filler which doesn't hold the liquid well enough to avoid flooding the atomizer. And you probably don't want a filler which has a chance of being vaporized itself. (Those polyester fibers can create an awful taste if they stray into the hottest part of the atty, and I doubt that those gasses are healthy.)

The shredded PTB filler takes some practice to get right. I did it quite a few times before I felt I'd perfected it. If you want the ultimate result it is important to understand how it works. You want to end up with a lot of PTB fibers which will surround the atomizer's bridge even after pulling the cartridge out, refilling, and reinserting it numerous times. But the final result is awesome. I can now make a new one in a few minutes for either a 510 or an 801. I can vape over 75% of the cartridge's raw juice capacity with the same vapor output as direct dripping. (If you haven't done that, please just consider it to be the gold standard for the best that wicking can ever be.) I carefully pull these out with tweezers, rinse in water, dry in a paper towel, and re-insert when changing flavors. They last a long time if they're not put through that procedure much. (After a few times through that routine they can become hard to re-shape to hug the atomizer correctly.) I have one which I've left in use with the same flavor for over two weeks now, never pulling or cleaning it. I vape that one for about 1/3 of my day (it is my high-nic unit) and haven't noticed any degradation in performance, so I'd say life expectancy (for full time use with just top-offs, i.e. one flavor and no pull/rinse/reinstall cycle) is at least five days of full time use for shredded PTB without flavor changes.

Hope this helps.

I have been using the the blue foam mod it works great and is soooo simple

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/cartridge-mods/27723-eheim-filterpad-mod.html

I second this or technically third? it .... just read the thread there if some good stuff in there. At Petco it think it is the Marineland filter, comes in pack of 3 for $7.99 has "U" on it. I personally do not use anything but the filter material ... no polyfill. Works great, I used to drip exclusively till I started using this stuff. You get like 10-15 drips into cart without straw or removing the wadding, just drip it down the side holding cart at angle and give half a second between drops for it to sink in.

Where did you get your blue foam at and how do you use it exactly:confused:

RIMP:evil:

The blue foam can be found in any pet store. Its a fish tank filter and comes in a 3 pack of sleeves. Cut one side of the the sleeve into a slight V shape just a hair shorter than the cart, and insert it with the smaller end towards the mouthpiece. I tried cutting it exactly the same shape as the cart but it leaked, so i made it a bit wider at the top so its more compressed where the atty touches (hence the V shape) and it works perfectly. Holds more liquid than polyfill and ptb, wicks better, and lasts longer.

Just in case I wasnt clear I meant the longest lasting vape time not the longest lasting "shelf life" of the filler

Thanks guys

That's what I thought you were talking about. I found normal polyfill requires a lot of topoffs, most of which are a waste of time. And you have to use a d-mn syringe to fill them right.

With tea bags the juice shot out so quickly it made me sick. Spring mod drained too quickly as well.

As Goldilocks said, polyfill with the straw mod was just right. Or the least of the evils, depending on how you look at it :)

I haven't tried the blue foam, though tea bags got some bad press about chemicals that are in them. I'm waiting to hear if the blue foam gets any bad press about the chemicals in them. For these reasons I am sticking with polyfill.

Hi:)
When you say polyfill I take it you mean the stuff you get the emnpty 510 carts pre-filled with when you buy online?

I bought quilting quality polyfill from a sewing/fabric store. It compresses better than the polyfill I saw for stuffing pillows. It is also easily rolls up because it comes in thin sheets. I suppose any brand would work. I got 100% polyester and it doesn't burn. I stayed away from polyester with flame ......ent.

Hi :)

I assume you mean the slim Swan filter tips I used to use in analogs?
Swan Filter Tips - Extra Slim - 120 Pack - Online Shop
As they allegedly reduce nicotine levels it seems a bizarre choice but I will certainly give them a try thanks for your help
