A friend of mine wanted to trade me for his raw tumbled Reo Grand. It looks pretty beat up. I was hoping it could be polished or cleaned up. Is that something I could do, I am not very mechanical. How would I go about it? Here is a pic of the back of the reo.

The other thing you can do is make a cover for it. I have them for my older style REO's. It's just a piece of vinyl with a squonk hole cut out and a piece of thin velcro to hold it together. It's held onto the REO with a piece of magic tape...which actually holds it quite well.

I also saw one with panels of adhesive carbon fiber that looked really slick- and is probably a little easier to do than the vinyl cover.

Thanks guys for your help. I was hoping not to sand it. Looks like I may have to.

The Mother's Mag is better for the first polish. Never dull is for the finish shine.

I know from working with a scratched and hazy polished door that you must sand if you want the mirror finish. The Mother's Mag just don't cut it!

the orginal finish is the raw tumbled, which is supposed to have light scratches, it part of the finish. Would you still suggest the never dull over mothers mag?

Yes I would. The Mother's Mag is a thick paste it turns from white to grey as it polishes. The Never Dull is a clear liquid usually comes as soaked wadding.

Tumbled finishes don't really have scratches. They do have marking from the tumbling but the finish is smooth as satin. The scratches I am seeing in your pic are from use. The deeper ones would need sanding out if you can't get them out with the Mother's Mag.
