I got my Omega a couple of days ago and the battery housing looks totally different from the rest of the Omega. It is really badly tarnished and i was looking for a good way to polish it and i saw this video. Would anyone recommend this. If not what would you recommend to get my Omega looking like new again. This is the only flaw that i have found with this AWESOME mod.

UPDATE:

Ok i just went to home depot and bought some of that Gel-Gloss you can buy it in a aerosol or as kinda of a paste i got the paste.

It was like $6 for a 16oz bottle. I put about a quarter size drop on my Omega and applyed it the whole thing. After that i let it sit for around 10 min's just until it starts to dry up.

Than taking a soft rag i just buffed it out. And WOW it really did the trick my Omega looks like new again and it also like leaves a nice smooth seal to it like adding a layer of protection. This Gel-Gloss really did the trick i was impressed.

Hardly any effort to buff it out and now it glistens again just like the day it arrived.

I should of took some before pic's but here are the after pic's

I would be careful using polishing/cleaning stuff that is intended for other metals/finishes. I don't have any idea or experience with nickel but I do know that stuff that makes one type of finish shiney and bright can totally ruin a different type. Chemistry and all that. Chad posted an Omega maintenance thread and passed on a recommendation by the plater for some sort of gel... (now where is that?)

I think it is gel gloss sold at lowes and home depot stores in the bathtub/sinks dept..

Badly tarnished after a couple days? You made me feel a little better about the mistake I thought I made when I ordered my BSB. I should receive it in a day or two.

When I heard about the Omega, I thought, "Hey, I want one of them too!"
I'll probably still get one, even if it needs periodic polishing. I like to tinker. And, you still like yours. :)

Holy cow... So I had a sample of some swirl cutter from a professional auto detailer (it's light rubbing compound for automotive paint). After about 1/2 hour of heavy duty rubbing (sore fingers) I have an absolutely mirror finish! lol, I wore latex gloves cause I was afraid to touch it while polishing... Now I have to get some of that gel-gloss to seal it before I put any finger prints on it.

I have the Gel Gloss and it just isn't really doing the trick. While I do enjoy the performance of the Omega, the fast tarnishing is beginning to grind on me. I want to <vape> with it, not be worrying about frequent maintenance to keep it looking good.

Perhaps I'm one of those obsessive compulsive types, but there was a reason I got the black silver bullet - easy hiding of fingerprints and no worries about discoloration. Now if they would ever make a BLACK Omega - I would be right on top of that.

I'm moving towards using the Omega as more of a "showpiece" rather than a daily vape because of this - not a slam on the product because it performs marvelously, I'm just not one to enjoy frequent polishing and tarnish removal.

The Gel Gloss has a wax component that is leaving a bit of a haze on the finish (my experience). Looking at the can, the Gel Gloss is meant for things like bathroom vanities, etc where a wax would probably work well. Maybe a good polish followed by an acrylic sealant would work better - not sure how that would work with nickel plating though.

I bought a cheap buffing set that hooks onto a cordless drill. I used it on my SB and it worked great. If I could find where I placed it so well I will see if it works on The Omega and post back. Surely its gotta work better than a paste or polish.

Careful... Nickel plating is like paint in that you don't know how thick it is.

It is .0005in thick, a light polish on a buffing wheel will not hurt it. Just be sure you leave it together when you do it :)
Ha Ha...Next time this comes apart...You will be doing it...LMAO I just found out a way to find my $10.00 buffing attachments... Im going to buy another one tomorrow......

Wow! Those before and after pics are incredible. I ordered mine the day it was released and still have no tarnish whatsoever. This is the only PV I've used since it came in the mail (my sb is has already gotten over jealousy and moved on I think) and I vape at least a few ml per day. Quick said before that is must be biochemistry (sweat), and it looks like that has to be true.

It really makes me curious regarding what the average consume should expect. Luck of the draw I guess. Although, truth be told I have never polished my SB because I kind of like it looking broken in and it just doesn't bother me personally, but I can certainly see how one might want it looking as shiny as possible. That is truly a sight to behold for both the OMeGa and the SB.

Yeah Im with you on the SB... Who Cares... But the Plating on the Omega gets Ugly.... I was ok for a week or so and thought the same thing... Its gotta be chemistry or something...I feel it will happen to everyone eventually... Its not a big deal for me to run a cheap buffer over it every other week...I do it to the SB just because it makes it feel a lot smoother..
