I've seen, here and there, where some people put polyurethane on their copper mechs to prevent the patina from setting in. But they just mention it briefly in their videos - I haven't found a video that shows you how to do it.

1) Polyurethane comes in different finishes, yes? Matte, gloss...any reason I should stay away from a gloss finish?
2) How does this stuff come? In a spray can? Is it something you can brush on? How do I keep the polyurethane out of the threads if it's a spray?
3) Do I even care if the polyurethane gets on the threads? Would that cause problems?
4) How long does the poly finish last before I have to poly it up again?
5) Is there any reason I should never, every polyurethane a copper mod?

Thanks for reading; any advice you can offer would be appreciated!!

I searched forced patina and found some links that'll get you to what you need. Sorry I dont know how to post links. They use some kind of sealant to preserve the patinas they create. I watched some of the vids and I recall one guy said he used wood floor sealer. I may be wrong though. Check em out. They'll tell ya what to use and show ha how.
