"Mark Petrillo, owner of Eastern Vapor, said e-cigarettes are a good way to quit smoking and noted he would support the new regulation since he already sells his products like they are regular cigarettes."

It doesn't seem too smart to support legislation that may prohibit you from testing and demonstrating your product in your shop. Unless there's an exemption. But even still, he should be pushing for less restrictions on public use, not more.

Typical crap from the government, “But because it’s such a new product, we don’t know if it’s harmful or to what level it could be taken." Hey, we don't know, so let's restrict it.

Age restrictions do make sense, though.

I just spoke with Mark Petrillo on the phone, and he says he will be posting a reply here shortly.

Just want to start off with a big thank you to DC2 for informing me on this post. Wanted to clear this up for you guys. The town informed me that the regulation they wanted to put into effect was to prevent the sale to minors, 18+ only, and to obtain a license to sell the product, which is what I was agreeing with. I WAS NOT AWARE THAT THEY WANTED TO BAN THE USE IN PUBLIC PLACES. I WAS ONLY INFORMED FROM THE TOWN THAT THEY WANTED TO REGULATE THEM BY NOT SELLING TO MINORS AND OBTAINING A LICENSE, THATS ALL. Just wanted to clear this issue up and let everyone know IAM AGAINST BANNING PUBLIC USE AND WOULD NEVER EVER BE IN FAVOR OF THAT. Seems like the media has twisted it again and Iam sorry if anyone thought I was backing the idea of a ban. Sorry guys and thank you.

Thanks guys, Yes I just opened up on Nov 5th. I just had to let everyone know I was only in favor of prohibiting sales to minors and obtaining a license and thats it. I obviously as a vaper and owning a vape shop would never back a "public use ban"...I mean are they kidding me? Why would I ever support that? Things can get a little twisted dealing with media and politics. Thanks for the welcome guys

Ah you have to watch these politicians here. Give em an inch they'll take a mile.:glare:

I'm not sure how much you have had to deal with the anti crowd in general. I can tell you that deception has become a disturbingly common practice for many of the groups asking for this kind of legislation at any level. There is a money trail to be followed and if you do that, it becomes painfully clear why this so.

Big pharma has a lot to lose if people all quit by vaping. The products they sell don't work very well, and they are expensive. They have no interest in you really quitting, they just want you to try.

Big tobacco at least in the USA, tends to stay out of the vaping business completely. They currently have nothing to gain by being "against" us, as were not really big enough in numbers to change much in this "developed country", considering the overall picture of the income they get. They also don't have a lot to gain being "for" us, as they have trust issues and product development issues to overcome to go there. Smokeless products like snus for example are just much easier for them produce and they have chosen to back that dog at the present time. Of course they still actively protect their rights to sell, in less developed countries, where there are plenty of smokers for their old products.

Big pharma funds the anti groups and certain politicians, hoping to drive more people to their products, and vaping put a monkey wrench into that. So vaping became a target. Anything that restricts vaping to the consumer to them is a win. They are more than willing to lie to anyone it takes to get the result they want. They have a proven track record of that. I just want you to be aware that their article, may or may not have been on accident. I'd be willing to bet it wasn't, though proving it is another matter entirely.

I'm glad you were misquoted. Well, not exactly. More glad that you don't support public bans actually. It only seems to make sense for you not to. Silly me to expect that they actually quoted you in context. Typical media twist.
Good luck. Due to our efforts here in Boise we got a specific e-cig exemption from their last round of Nazi-esque smoking prohibitions. Hopefully the folks out there are somewhat reasonable, though I wouldn't count on it.

Vocalek thank you so much for contacting Mark and for all the work you do for us. It's greatly appreciated.

I'm thrilled to see a vape shop here so close to me. I applaud Mark for opening one.

Massachusetts is so anti-smoking I know there will be a big effort to lump ecigarettes in with regular cigarette restrictions. Perhaps stores like Marks will change public perception.
