It's great to get out there and try to educate our fellow citizens/part time legislators/realtors/attorneys who write these laws. The only people they hear from are Big Pharma funded groups who are protecting their paymasters peddling nicotine gums and patches.

On the positive side, I can tell you what happens after these laws are passed....nothing. It's unenforceable. Non vaping hotel room? Ok, why not pass a non .........ing hotel room law? How would anybody know if you vaped
in a hotel room? It's odorless.

I live in NJ, the Big Pharma capital and home to the Robert Wood Johnson foundation. They passed a vaping ban. Now, I'm not going to incriminate anyone on a public forum, I'm a law abiding citizen. I stand out in the freezing cold and vape.:)
Of course, if some lawless desperado wanted to they could vape in their office all day. Or on elevators. Bathrooms. Or I can just walk around anywhere and not exhale the vapor.

They are pissing up a flag pole.

As a fellow NJ citizen (Burlington County, what about you?), let me just say I am appalled at the idea that someone would break the indoor use law. It's unthinkable that a strikingly handsome law student would regularly sit in cafes and diners in NJ and stealth vape for hours on end. UNTHINKABLE!

True story: I've never met a NJ citizen who is aware of the vaping ban. I even met a business owner a couple months back who laughed when I told him about the ban, and said the Health Department could feel free to come and give him a fine.

I grew up on the mean streets of East Brunswick in outer whitelandia. Don't tell Connie Wagner, the useful idiot state liberal legislator who was horrified that some guy in a kiosk selling crappy ecig kits for $90 that smell like dirty socks at the Willowbrook Mall looked like he was smoking and sponsored a bill.

The annoying yenta got her "big pharma nicotine protection act" bill passed in the lame duck session before Christie took office. I'd love to see a FOIA on the emails from RWJF lobbying for that.

I won't let people like that control me. I'll email my local legislator on my iPhone while vaping in the rain.:)

Well, my comments were approved and appear as comment #11. I didn't realize that my real name would be posted (I have some issue with that), but I guess it's okay- You can google my name and it typically leads to the guy who made Lady Diana's wedding dress. LOL

If you logged in to comment using your Facebook account, that's why. Tried to find you on Facebook so I could send you a friend request, but couldn't figure out who was you.

Hey Elaine,
I logged in to post from g-mail...no biggie. I just found you and sent a friend request.
I'm sort of "iffy" on posting a lot of vaping stuff in the main forum of FB...try to avoid it as I have a bunch of work folks on there and they just banned e-cigs in the schools where I work. So, in a closed group or by PM, I'm game!!

Got it!

Too bad about your workplace. My last year on the job (retired in 2010) I vaped at my desk, but avoided doing so in the hallways or on the elevators. My boss knew and she was just glad that I wasn't smoking any more. My office-mate was rarely there, but when he was, he did not have any problem with me vaping either. In fact, he asked for information about the products because he wanted his wife to stop smoking.

The Town of Saugus, MA is holding a hearing on a proposed regulation that would restrict the sales of e-cigarettes and other tobacco products. It would prohibit sale of e-cigarettes in pharmacies and drug store and also prohibit the self service displays of e-cigarettes.

Not sure if the proposal would still ban the use of e-cigarettes in workplaces, but that was included the original proposal.

It would be helpful if some e-cigarette consumers or vendors could attend and speak up.

Hearing on Monday, May 7 at 6:15 pm
Saugus Public Library / 295 Central Street

Here's a new article about Saugus BOH meeting on Monday. The article probably didn't mention the proposed e-cigarette usage ban in workplaces and sales regulations because nobody showed up at the BOH meeting to oppose them.

Saugus health panel hears about proposed tobacco ban
The Daily Item: Saugus health panel hears about proposed tobacco ban

Since this BOH meets monthly, and since nobody has testified at any BOH meetings since February (when Karen Carey did so) opposing the e-cig usage ban, the Saugus BOH probably thinks that nobody opposes it anymore, and they will likely enact it.

Please note that I testified at 5 different monthly BOH meetings in Ohio County (WV) before the BOH decided to scrap their proposed e-cig usage ban (and the smoking ban it was included in). Perseverance is often necessary to defeat these proposals.
