Well, you all might think I'm crazy, but I'd swear that the way I put the mouthpiece containing the cartridge onto the atomizer actually makes a big difference in vapor production and the effective use of the liquid in the cartridge. As I've never seen anyone talk about this here I thought I'd post and see if anyone else has noticed this.

For the longest time I would just put the mouthpiece on after topping up, without any care or concern as to directionality. Sometimes I'd get good vapor and hits, the liquid would seem to get all used up nicely, and the cartridge would then easily soak up many drops when I went to refill. Other times, the vapor would be thin to nonexistant, and the liquid would just puddle up on top of the cart immediately when I tried to refill, indicating there was still liquid in the cartridge. And, I've seen a lot of people seeming to have the same inconsistency in results.

Recently it hit me that the carts are all shaped with one direction being longer than the other, and the atomizer heads are also elongated on one side as opposed to being roundish. This applies most clearly to the penstyle atomizers, but to the 901 style as well to a lesser extent.

So I decided to line up the elongated side of the cartridge with the elongated side of the atomizer after filling up, and as I said above, I swear it really makes a difference. Here's a picture of what I mean:

atomizer and cart2.jpg

I think that by doing it that way it allows the cartridge fill to sink more completely onto the atomizer head, and maybe if the cartridge is placed the other way it doesn't go down as far and the atomizer just can't soak up the liquid as well.

So, what's your verdict: am I crazy or inspired?

y,

Dang, I'm just not seeing this!

Edited: Oh never mind....I see that you have to look directly at the head of the atomizer...duh! I'm still trying to see how many holes my atomizer has....I'm sure I won't have much luck with this either, especially without a good strong light. Good thinkin' though! :thumb:

I wonder if you twist it around once you got it on there, if you would be able to test it to find the difference? Just a thought.

I dont notice any difference in regards to alignment with the atomiser. But I do think you will get an easier draw by aligning the duct cutouts of the cartridge with the intake holes of the mouthpiece. (speaking of the 901 two peice style cartridge). The two holes are parallel to the flat part of the mouthpiece. I just am in a habit of rotating the cartridge part so the ducts are parallel to that flat. If you pop off the cartridge part and look down into the mouthpiece you will see what I mean.

Did you try it with a classic Darcy? I have no trouble at all with a 901 but I just can't get good results with cartridges in my Kissbox.
yes,i tried it with classics Kate...

i can only speak for myself,if it seems to work for others thats great...but i did this for ages, and long term for me it didnt make any major difference that i could attribute to doing this...i never tried it in the kissbox...maybe itll make some difference in that for you...the kissbox seems to be a law unto itself...

but you know how it is with these things...there are so many variables...you think youve discovered a solution as to why its not working as well as you think it should...then you realize that youre just having one of those periods where everythings working well for no apparent reason...then it all goes .... up again-for no apparent reason...

i must add tho...even tho carts work well with them,i prefer to drip 901s...i dont drip RN4072 classics anymore,i use carts...and as these things go,carts usually work pretty well with this model...no matter how theyre inserted...
