Possible to recreate the Pipe Experience?

I'd like to pursue e-ciging more, and have tried the C2O brand as a sort of starter experiment. But I'm wondering if there is a way to recreate the Pipe Experience, or does the technology just not allow it yet. So, Here's what I'd like...

1. The look and feel of a good briar pipe. Not mandatory, but would be nice.
2. Long lasting battery life and juice. I'd like to be able tote on this thing for a couple hours (or 30 minutes with an easy and quick refill process).. i.e. while I am reading or studying.
3. Light on the nicotine. Because I'd like to tote on it for a while, I don't need that much nicotine being released. I primarily only mouth smoke anyway (though a little deeper if I do hookah).
4. Light enough to hold in my mouth and not have to tie up my hands (which will be holding a book or typing a paper).
5. Not a money pit.

Is anyone aware of any product that comes close to this? I'm afraid that some of the Pipe models I've seen are just like the cigs, and made for people wanting a quick nicotine hit. I'm wanting a slower, more relaxed, drawn out smoke. It's too hot where I live to enjoy regular smokes outdoors.

My guess is that there are so few of us yet that are looking for this sort of experience that there probably are not many products on the market for us.

Thanks for any thoughts.

I ALMOST ordered my first PV from them. Met the owner on another forum. Seems like the Jazz might do the trick, but then again, like Antoly said, a longer batty life would mean a heavier batty. Good luck!

they use 1 16430 I belive which is the weight of maybe 2 standard automatic batteries.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm still trying to learn my way through this. I'm pretty sure I'll be moving in one of these directions. Right now I'm thinking about the Hello Mega Ego and the E Pipe DSE601. The stuff at epipemods looks awesome, but probably too pricey for my first foray.

Now, I've come across some other products that sometimes seem to use the vaping terminology, but I'm not sure what term to use to differentiate them from what seems to be the main focus here. These heat real tobacco (or other herbs) to produce a vapor. They are plug-ins, and you smoke from a hose, a bit like a hookah. This might be the sort of thing I'm looking for for 'vaping' (if this is still the applicable term) while doing long stints studying and typing at the computer. (I find having something to smoke helps me to stay focused on my study). Maybe I should get one of each type of device for the situation that is appropriate to each.

Does anyone have information or experience with these? Are these in fact vaping, or something else? What's the opinion of using a device like this for tobacco? (I'm not interested in what other folks seem to use them for often).

The term I use for such devices is "herbal vaporizers" because these generally run at a much higher temperature than the liquid atomizers we use for e-cig vaping. Because they require higher temperatures--many can reach the flashpoint (burning) temperature of certain herbs--they are usually powered by AC plug-in or butane. The iOlite and Ploom are examples of the latter--but the iOlite is mostly intended to be used for "other" herbs, and the Ploom is designed to use premanufactured "pods" filled with small amounts of tea or tobacco, propylene glycol and flavoring--and both can be modified to use with tobacco or even e-liquid, but the significantly higher power means you'll want to use much weaker nicotine strengths.

Thanks for the quick response. One downside I saw to those that I looked at, was that they had a small bowl. I have no experience, but my guess is that they don't last that long before they need a refill. I think most that use these are just wanting something for a quick reaction, whereas I'm looking for something longer, slower, and lighter on the Nic.

It's interesting that you mention that they can be modded to use e-liquid, because I was wondering if that was possible. I would suspect that using liquid might let it last longer???? Where would I be able to learn more about that?

I was tempted by the iolite, but I read that the stems break off easily.

Also, would i be correct in assuming that the vapor from these is not as clean as from liquid vaporizers? if significant, this would be a concern to me since I have a touch of lung disease.

Well, the bowl size on the iolite is not really a problem if you're using e-liquid...if anything its too big because you are heating/vaporizing it all at once. The pods on the ploom are quite small, but the pods are designed that way--I believe they are working on a model that uses slightly larger pods.

There's a few threads around here somewhere, but you can search YouTube for more info. Here's a good start:

Yes they do, especially when the plastic is softened by the high temperature...but I think they improved the design and if you're careful, it's an avoidable problem.

Depends what you mean by "clean". I think that using VG based e-liquids could be a bad idea because Glycerine can decompose into acrolein at temperatures over 170F--which, I believe, is the temperature the Ploom uses, while the iOlite runs at 190F. I doubt that enough would be created to be any worse than what you're exposed to from a bag of microwave popcorn, but it is definitely something to keep in mind especially if you have preexisting lung disease.

Thanks for the great information Thulium. + rep. well, if this site used a rep system. I might give the io a try. Though I'm still looking for something that can give a long, hand-free smoke. I wonder if there is such a thing as a holder and tube that could be applied to the io.

You mean like this?

Compare to the Magic Flight Launch Box, and unless you really like coughing, don't use more than about 1% nicotine. :vapor::blink::glare:

you da man!

I checked out the FAQs on the box site, and it referenced a batter being good for 4-8 hits. It's making me think this is not what I am looking for. I'm not looking for something that will give a quick nicotine fix.... for me, it's just as much about the process, which is why I'm interested in something that is a long continuous smoke... with nicotine cranked way low... a bit like a nice 30 min, or 45 min pipe smoke, or an even longer hookah session. There are just so many choices out there, but so little chance to see the stuff in operation first hand.
