Joss Stone is awesome. Yeah I kinda over generalized my statement. There is still some good music out there but it's definitely not on the popular radio stations. It's all about selling a image and sex now a days. IMO Joss is way hotter then most popstars b/c her voice makes her hot.

Yah I have a couple of her albums on the ol ipod. Her voice sometimes makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up it's so awesome.

Can you believe she played the "ugly" queen on The Tudors? LOL

I hear what your saying though, But then again I was never really a big fan of pop rock anyway. I like modern rock probably my favorite band and although not new are much more modern than the Moody blues, the Deftones.

Yup I dig the deftones too! There is some great stuff out there but I just think it's harder to find quality than it used to be.

Another artist that surprised the hell out of me with her voice is Lily Allen. Amazing voice and the lyrics on most of her songs are great!!

Embed disabled, but I have heard her stuff and I love her voice.

Have you ever listned to Ani Difranco. She is the bomb. The best musician I have ever had the chance to sit down and jam with. Not that my buds in Recoil are not great, (I was in a band with the R guitar player and we played the bars), but she is in a class all her own. This is her on the Henry Rollins Show.

I used to think Ani Difranco was from Michigan for some reason I don't know why. I met her randomly in Ferndale she was doing a show in Royal Oak. I didn't know who she was at the time but I like her music.

Yeah I've heard of them they've done shows in Pontiac and at Harpos right? I know I've heard that name somewhere maybe I saw something about them in the Metro Times. I'm gonna check them out though for sure.

Yep that's them. My buddies are the drum player and the rythem guitarist we used to play in the bar scene in Norther Mi. Jer is cool as hell and if you get a chance to party with these guys you will have a blast. I think the last time they played Harpos was to open for local H. Me and Jer were a two man band for a while and that's how he got his start. Mike the drummer hooked up with Jer at a house party we were playing and when they moved down to go to U of M they kept it up and joined Recoil. Jer is in like his 8th year, he want's to be a defence attorney. He's a genuis, but you know how that goes. On one day and off the next. Self medicates just to stay normal. Not that I ever do that.:blink::blink:

All I do for a living is jam and sell guitars and equipment. I have supported a family of five for around 8 years that way and my wife is a stay at home mom. The first time I had a paying gig was in 1984. I'm on-line all day and night answering question and selling guitars. That or I'm at the bar playing guitar or drums. When I really need to come down I spend a few nights out in the woods by myself hunting and fishing.

ps, my favorite gig with Jer (hypocritical Mass, our name) was at the Posen Pub and we blew up a thrash metal version of Sweet Home Alabama. I love the song but damn, I'm tired of playing it, so we said the hell with that and tore it up.

I met her in Buffalo when we were playing at the Blind Mellon with Chunk Pipe. We also got to hang with 10,000 maniacs and The Goo Goo Dolls, although years apart.

Honestly, that is the true sign of a music lover. The ability to see true tallent when you hear it is a gift. You must have been blessed.

Yeah I been a DJ since I was 14 and was always open to music. Didn't matter what it was as long as it had a good beat and lyrics. I was raised on old Motown stuff, Cat Stevens, and Christopher Cross. Fell in love with real hip hop as I grew up but lost interest when gangster rap took over in the 90s. I was forced to listen to jazz by my grandparents but have come to have a great admiration for it. Then I started producing my own music at 18 and meddled in every genre. It's weird because I actually listen to a lot of classical and opera before I make beats. Even if its a drumloop for a rock band or a kick snare for a hip hop group. I crank opera and classical before I start because it centers me.

I know when ppl go through my ipod they're always really surprised by what I have in there. A lot of ppl say the way I look doesn't match what I listen to. I grew up on the Eastside of Detriot (one of the last families to leave after the riots, back when there was a lil China town) and I dress in sneakers with a shirt and hat on all the time in my car leaned back, but when I pull up next to someone there always like is this kid really jamming out to Genesis (Phil Collins not Pete). It's funny the faces they make. Thank you though I feel like we have both been blessed sir.

This song sums up how I feel about music.

YouTube - COLD - Bleed

I'm feeling crossed
I take it inside
Burn up the pain
My thoughts are strange
Just like the things
I used to love
Just like the tree that fell
I heard it
If art is still inside
I feel it

I wanna bleed
Show the world all that I have inside
I wanna scream
Let the blood flow that keeps me alive

Take all these strings
They call my veins
Wrap them around
Every ....... thing

Presence of people
Not for me
Well I must remain in tune
Forever
My love is music
I will marry melody

I wanna bleed
Show the world all that I have inside
I wanna scream
Let the blood flow that keeps me alive

Won't you let me take you
For a ride
You can stop the world
Try to change my mind
Won't you let me show you
How it feels
You can stop the world
But you won't change me

I need music
I need music
I need music to set me free
To let me bleed
