Probably an idea that would quickly be shot down by any number of business senders, not to mention postal employees, but I wish that if a mail delivery day were to be eliminated it would not be Saturday. Two consecutive days of no delivery of things people might need seems a bad policy. Make it Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, I say.

a lot of you seem to think that usps is an entitlement. it's subsidized service - paid by our taxes and cost of "stamps". the u.s. gov't is propping it. imagine going to fedex and/or ups and asking them how much to mail a "first class" letter? 50 cents? ups doesn't do saturday residential delivery nor fedex unless you pay EXTRA. come to think of it - what's the cheapest thing that fedex or ups can ship for you?

I'm not surprised. Every time the stamps go up (which has been quite a few times over the last few years) I've wondered how/when they would go a step further in order to stay afloat. I'm actually surprised it hasn't happened sooner, what with e-mail, fed-ex yadda blah etc.

That being said, I hope they don't start this Saturday. I placed an order today. :D

I agree, I placed my very first order for the Ultimate Automatic Kit and really hope I get it by Saturday :D

Yup, they say "we're thinking no delivery on Saturday" people say "noooo" USPS says "well okay but that means we have to raise rates even more than we planned to."
That way they can raise their rates and people want them to.

While I agree that 2 consecutive days of no delivery isn't good for residential customers the backbone of postage paying customers are business that typically need service M-F.

What???? No bills coming in on Saturday??? I'm all for it! Heck, they can cut it to 3 days a week if it lowers consumer costs too(yeah right ) A lot of my suppliers have started closing on weekends to lower their costs (and keeping my costs fairly level) so it just requires planning on my part. Same will go for USPS if it changes. I had to get a PO box here just to get my mail before 6PM

Come to think of it, my order that was shipped on Tuesday from V4L is still showing as "electronically notified" and probably will remain that way even after it shows up in the mail....

USPS is the worst. Every time I go in there it's like going into the registry of motor vehicles. I ring the bell, here some shuffling from the back somewhere and some dude coughing... I wait, and wait, and wait... see a few people walk by without acknowledging me standing there waving a package in the air. I ring the bell, someone yells "coming" from behind the wall, I here some stuff banging around. Then finally some rude illiterate redneck pops out with mustard all over his fat belly acting .....y because I made him stop playing solitaire for a minute.
