Sun, my best guess was that she fell off the top level of the cat tree or a dresser. However, there was severe bruising along with the comminuted fracture, and the vet asked if something heavy fell on her. Nothing was out of place, so I don't think so. After that, we got rid of that cat tree and a very tall entertainment center we had, and we had a carpenter come and close in the tops of the cabinets in the kitchen. We have a galley kitchen, and the cats loved to jump across from the top of the cabinets on one side to the top of the cabinets on the other side, giving us heart attacks! Now they can't do that anymore ;) I haven't figured out how to keep them off the dressers. There's no way to keep cats from climbing. But we've done our best to eliminate any chance of more broken bones. Of course, it could have been that she and her brother were wrestling on the coffee table and she fell off, or they both fell off with Tyler landing on top of her, which might have caused the bruising. I really wish I knew how it happened, although I know I wouldn't have wanted to see it happen. My poor baby. I hated seeing her in pain, and struggling to walk with a splint on her leg afterwards. And we put her through three months of separation from the other cats while she recuperated in a room with no furniture in it. It was a very long three months!

Sorry, I tend to run on when I'm talking about my babies! And I'd love to see those pics!

Catmom - I don't think there is any way to keep them off of stuff. Foil helps -- most just don't like it. We tried the water bottle and Bela just sits and takes it until he is soaking wet, so we gave that up with him. He leaps from a chair through the air to land on top of my computer hutch which always freaks me out since I think something is falling on my head. I had one climb up on a chest of drawers and knock my dulcimer off into the floor. Thank heavens it didn't break. I cat proof as much as possible but there is only so much you can do and still have the things you feel necessary. Cats jumping across the kitchen would make a cool youtube video!

LOL I actually did have a dog steal steaks one time. Picture this: several 16 year olds out playing in the snow. We played all afternoon and when we started to get hungry I remembered a bunch of steaks in my parents freezer. Got them out to thaw and went back out to play. The dog got cold so I let it in the house and when we went in the house to start cooking there were only a few nibbles of steak left on the floor! The dog had eaten those frozen steaks! LOL -- nobody could be mad at the dog but there sure were mad at me!

And sometimes he likes to throw a demon into the mix just for fun. I got one of those. Real funny, God.
