They definitely can be! I have seven bird feeders on my upper level deck that seemingly attract every bird within a five mile radius (slight exaggeration). Until I electrified my deck supports, I couldn't keep the squirrels and coons from emptying them all. Don't worry - they just get a little zap - not enough to harm them, but just enough to keep them from climbing the posts.they are sure annoying, but I hope it's ok too
That's the only squirrel deterent that might work Rave - nothing else seems to ( determined little buggers)
Yes she is!! That is Scrappy. Notice that this photograph was not taken through glass. I was outside, and she was still sooo brazen. I swear, I could not intimidate a carpet beetle. Nowadays, I leave some goodies below the deck for Scrappy and her kits ... and the opposums ... and the skunks ... etc.

They love to throw pecans!! I was walking out to the car one day and a pecan hit the hood of DH's truck....sure scared me!!

We stayed at a cabin once that had bird feeders and we saw the racoons stealing the bird seed. We went and bought apples and raisins. There were like six of them at one time and they ate every raisin!
Squirrels used to throw hickory nuts at my husband if he'd try to take a nap on the deck. If he moved the lounge chair, they'd go to his new location and throw more nuts until he'd give up and go inside. Smart little devils!!

The are pretty smart.....one would sit on the fence and bark at us. Until DH started swinging a broom stick at him...LOL

Oh no - Scrappy wasn't posing. She was giving me fourteen kinds of grief for interupting her lunch! If she spoke Human, her language would've made a sailor blush! The reason she was out in broad daylight was because I was bringing all of the feeders in every night. In order to get her precious sunflower seeds, she had to make mid-day raids.
Aww - Thanks! Yeah, I've always been a wildlifeaholic. In high school, my nickname was "mother nature". Ah well, there are worse ...
