We currently have 6. Fewer than in the past, still too many IMO. I only keep them because here in my part of Cali we have to pay a significant sum of money (way more than the cost of feeding them is per year) in taxes if we don't produce anything on our farm. We have to sell 150 dollars worth of product to bypass the fees, and the emu eggs sell very very well compared to what I really grow, which is fruits and vegetables mainly for our own consumption and canning.

Hey Seri...you can too?? There aren't too many of us left I don't think!:?:
Foods taste so much better when you can them from the garden. I have started making salsa also.
I have to agree with everyone else, I've never seen a baby emu either! Too cute!!
Thanks for the laughs on the horse picture. I've been tempted to lay down on her back with an empty booze bottle
in my hand, and have someone take a picture of that. The caption would read "Designated Driver"..lol!
It does look like a two headed horse to start with..That Abby, she's always wanting attention! lol!

LOL -- the last time I laid on a horse (on my back) was when I couldn't stop my cousins' horse from entering a low, metal roofed shed. By the time I realized I wasn't going to be able to stop him it was too late to lean forward so I had to lay back to keep from being sliced in half. And there I was, stuck with the roof of the shed right above my face. I couldn't lean up in the slightest. I finally fell off ( in guess what?), was unhurt, changed my clothes and went back out to ride some more. Ahhhh..... the benefits of youth!

Too funny Sun! What did you fall off in?? lol! I have many funny horse stories, having trained them for several years.

Caramelized onion jam?? Never heard of it! And I could have standed to live out the rest of my days without hearing of it. lol!
Sorry, but I'm not a big onion fan. But I hear ya on wanting Spring to get here. It almost feels like Spring here today...WTF? We've had such a mild Winter here so far! Even the bugs and plants think it's Spring already. Not good really. But sure am enjoying the warmer weather. I'm thinking I'm going to take the dogs for a walk tomorrow. I too need to get away from this computer some.
