Over the past few days one of my manuals (Luke Skywalker, a black with green led, one of my two originals) has been having issues. It's button was being a pita, sometimes it would work with a slight press, other times I'd have to hit just the right spot, and others still I'd have to press hard as #$&@ to get it working. Today after it was fully discharged I dropped a little alcohol into the button, let it dry for an hour, then put it on the charger. So far it's working. I hope it continues, I'm not emotionally prepared to retire it yet....

Lol You would prefer being with the first born Ms. Keelalagirl. Frodo leaving didn't bother me. He was hurt by knife, sting, and taking of the ring. He deserved to depart to the immortal lands to find some kind of peace (unsure if he died there or was granted to be counted among the first born like Tuor was, Tolkien never says)... My grandfather reminded me so much of Gandalf.... And even though he prepared me from age eight that he was ready to pass on, and I didn't cry at his funeral, those books meant a lot to him, and every time I read them, I miss him.... We had many 3 hour conversations on the phone discussing them.... So when Gandalf departs, it just brings back the flood of emotions....

That I do Ms. Eleanor. He was my biggest influence growing up. He taught me it was ok to question everything, do things your own way, and being different is something you should embrace. :)

Ms. Keelalagirl, he left me his first edition copies of LOTR, they will be given to one of my kids (if my wife lets me have any :) ) or buried with me. I read them once... It's the one thing I miss about smoking, we used to sit down and smoke pipes together... Don't worry, I always have at least 9 batts fully charged at all times and enough juice and cartos to last 3 years....

Well, I better get to bed. Have a doctors appointment in 5 1/2 hours... Need to get at least a few hours of sleep. Goodnight all.

My Paw-Paw was not much of a reader. Worked on the railroad all his life. He left me with a very nice tie clip. It's not much but it showed his second favorite thing in the world next to his family. I remember him every time I use it or see a train go by. He was a great man. Even went out on a joke the crazy bugger. He was in the hospital during the O.J. trial. When the verdict came in he said "That's it I'm outta here" and never woke up again. Crazy old man.

Morandir. Thought you might get a kick out of the fact that I read the entire 2000 pages of LOTR out loud to my son when he was 6 to 7 years old. I would read for hours at a time on some days, and when my voice was to sore to read any more, he would beg me to keep reading. He is now 16, and not only is he an avid reader, but he won $100 at the local mall in a Harry Potter look alike contest.
