I think this says it all.

As far as putting it in the General Discussion area, some of us need to be reminded that every single one of us has a part in keeping vaping a free choice. A few minutes spent signing an online petition, emailing a few state Senators, placing comments on a news article, or emailing main stream media...........it DOES make a difference.

One of my favorite quotes from the article:

“Are these people all in the pay of e-cig companies?” said Linda McAvan, an influential member of Parliament’s environment and public health committee. “No. But they have been told by these companies that Brussels wants to take away their product. They are genuinely angry. But their anger has been fed.”

Talk about mealy-mouthed nonsense. As if the vendor's letting us know that you fascist dimwits want to take away a product we enjoy invalidates or in any way diminishes our desire not to have that product taken away. In short, the New York Times kinda-sorta plays this article straight, or at least I'll give them credit for not spreading wantonly anti-scientific propaganda about e-cigs -- but the insinuation that Brussels' decision was a triumph of corporate interest is flatly laughable.

At worst, the Brussels' decision is a triumph of relatively tiny corporate interest versus a far larger corporate interest. That is the world we live in today, and the sooner the press stops covering the news as if their chosen good guy is a white knight in shining-but-totally-unfunded armor, the better for all of us.

Oh, and the comments on the article are predictably infuriating. It's a good thing I can't be bothered to register on the Times' site. I doubt anything I'd write would be fit for family viewing.

(EDIT because I'm angry: The dude in the comments who compared vaping to burning a certain illegal substance on a spoon needs to be taken somewhere and forcibly addicted to burning-spoon substances ... just so he can see firsthand just how %*#)%&*#% stupid his comment is.)

I hear you! A win for the huge corporate giant Totally Wicked Vapes"!!!!! ROFL! SERIOUSLY? It was the VAPER'S WIN. NYT's kinda went a little bit overboard, dontcha think?

The comments are really crazy, are the posters just ignorant, uneducated or a cross section of New Yorkers? Just kidding. Starbuck's is definitely an evil corporation, handing out cups as a delivery device to fuel America's caffeine addiction....we....must.....stop....it......save....the....children......!!!!!!!!

Thank you for posting this informative article. And your recommendation to all vapers is on the mark. However, the question is, why are more vapers not members of our own vapers group working to keep severe restrictions from being applied to vaping everywhere??

It's difficult to understand the lack of interest.

I too read the article this morning (my local time--been on the NY stands for hours)...so by then many coments were registered.
No Doubt- they make for more emotional reading than the article. Its tempting to link them to SJs Forum on "bunk" articles and propaganda, albeit theres the mixture of support smattered in there as well.
We are al on a crazy bus ride to the zoo here folks. ;)
Glad for the support & efforts of ECF community; vape community across the continent-clearly our numbers are
heard.

What I got out of reading the article was doing further research on these companies over there who are able to provide very full laboratory testing, assays, etc., on their products, and how much that probably aids their cause since they seem to have their ducks in a row, and it cost TW a LOT of money to do these things. I believe companies like Decadent Vapours as well.

Don't see much of that happening here........and I think some of you are naive to think that the FDA is going to be "moved" because vaping is "popular" and such. These companies overseas are putting it together in a way that is passing muster. Cheerleaders aren't enough.....they have lab reports and such to back up what they are trying to do.

I wasn't really at all interested in the comments posted in the NYT so I didn't read them. What is more important is to know how to deal with what is ahead, and who is doing what and how. All this emotional stuff is really not ultimately "useful" in fighting the FDA, etc.

So, how many US companies can provide the kinds of testing I am talking about, and who has done so? I really would like to know.
