Guys. I've been testing the vape i recently got, with the intention to ship an identical set to my uncle.

I have the aerotank-mini and 2 ego-twists.

After experimenting.. These are Not practical devices for a heavy smoker.

I looked at the larger cylindrical mods, but they're seriously too big and heavy to carry around for intro-vapers.. (my uncle)

So, I think Box may be the way to go..

What would be a good box mod that's a good carry around..

It has to have decent capacity and be rebuildable, and I'm still not sure whether it's better to get a tank or the Reo style with the tank inside the box..

my uncle is crafty enough for the rebuild no problem, he just probably wouldn't carry something long and heavy

:D

If you're looking for something that carries similarly to a pack of smokes, the bottom feeding box mods, like the Reo, would be your answer. Keep in mind, you mentioned the typical clearo + ego being too heavy. The Reo would not be lighter, especially with a battery, RDA, and 6ml of juice. The good thing is in the Reo Grand would use a 18650 battery, which fully charged, will last all day. If you opt for the smaller Reo Mini v2.0, which uses the 18490, a heavy user may want to carry a spare battery.

I've found a happy carry option with a Provari Mini and a Kayfun or RSST tank. It's about as long as a Clearo + ego, but thicker and heavier, but it carries well in my front pocket. It definitely doesn't carry like a pack of smokes, but easily slides into my pocket and I forget about it. Carrying spare batteries, for me, are akin to me having to carry a lighter. In fact, I carry batteries in the little pocket of my jeans, same place I use to carry my lighter.

Another option is a 18650 mech mod with an RDA. But you'll have to carry a bottle of juice with you and drip. This is my least favorite travel option, but I've done it before. The mech mods are normally shorter than a VV/VW mod because you don't have the extra space that the chip takes. Just the inconvenience of dripping on the go is annoying.

I carry my mod in my shirt pocket, so I also want/need something light and compact.

I have an MVP, and love it! It'll last two, three days on a charge, and if I bring a micro USB with me, I can even charge my cell phone or other device off of it.

However, I've recently picked up a Vapor Shark.

The Vapor Shark is actually SMALLER then a box of tic taks in one dimension, and the same size in two dimensions! This thing is TINY!

It also lasts me a full day, as long as I'm not sub-owming, which I generally don't do. If the battery should get low, I can always plug it into a micro USB which I have in my car, my bedroom, kitchen, etc.

Stick a Kayfun tank on it (or even better, an Expromizer tank! These are amazing!) and your uncle will be able to vape all day, and carrying it around in a shirt pocket won't be a problem!

Good luck. Lot's of suggestions and different options.

(Oh, the Vapor Shark is $170 delivered... not cheap, but well worth it)

OK guys so.. Reo mod is the most convenient of it's type right? are there any other similar mods with the tank inside that is better? I don't care about price.

If you ask most Reo owners, they will answer that the Reo is the best of the bunch. I personally love mine with the passion of a thousand burning suns. A few things of which to be aware:

  • Reo is a bottom feeding mod. You will either need to use a bottom feeding RBA or bottom feeding drip atomizer. The number of toppers you can use is limited.
  • That being said, you could glue my RM2 to the top of my Reo.
  • If you like dripping, you will love the Reo. It is dripping without the hassle.
  • It is not the sexiest mod around, but is built like a tank.
  • Pure mechanical - you can wash it in the sink. (In fact this is recommended.)
  • Getting used to "Skwonking" (squeezing the bottle to deliver juice) takes some getting used to.
  • Many consider a Reo with a micro-coil and cotton to be as close as one can get to vape-heaven.
  • As always, YMMV

Thanks for all the great info Everyone / Fizzpop

Which bottom fed rebuildable is everyone using for the reo?

I don't think a tank would go ontop since that was the point to put it down.

Reo is precisely everything you described. Reo Grand + RM2 is pretty equivalent in size and pocketability as a pack of smokes (albeit a little heavier) and the Reo Mini is the tiniest cutest little mod I ever saw if you want to go smaller than a pack of smokes size wise.

I have 4 MVPs and I dont even know how many other devices....nothing gets used by me or the "other half" any more except the Reo's. If what you want is compact, indestructible, great performance, you enjoy dripping, are capable of rebuilding/ohms law - then Reo is a great answer.

ETA - The Reosmods RM2 (or Reomizer 2) is a wonderful atty for it

thx everyone for the guidance..

CreepyLady got it right ^^^ :thumb:

I've had my Reo Grand and RM2 for almost three months now. It's a tank. I wash it monthly, clean the battery contact surfaces weekly and it's golden. It's become my go-to vape device. The RM2 is great and with its small air chamber flavor is very good. I was used to bigger RDAs and had to adjust my DIY juices to a bit less flavoring in the recipes to make up for the change.

Hope this works out for your uncle tp4tissue :)

I agree and disagree with your assumptions.

The eGo's and larger battery systems aren't good for carrying around whether you are a experienced vaper or someone just starting out.

If someone is just starting out it is "My Opinion" they are looking for something that looks and feels like a Cigarette. Not something that you have to press a button on to make it function which means you have to always have a hand on it instead of just putting it in your mouth and drawing on it.

That is the way it was for me and a few people I have gotten started vaping.

The idea of having a larger battery and tank system that always takes a hand to operate was not appealing to them.

Having a rebuildable atty being brand new to vaping sounds like a rough experience to me. I had a few times where a mini pro tank 2 was not working right and ticked me off while I was learning. Then again I didn't have someone to show me first hand what I did wrong. If you are near by and readily available to help him learn a Reo with rm2 is very well respected. If you're not going to be around as much a mvp with a mini pro tank 2 might be easier on him. Oh and If you decide to buy him juice which we all know is very person specific get him a couple that you like. If he hates them then they have a good home to go to.

Thats kind of old school. Ego types are so prolific these days. Lots of corner stores and gas stations even carry cheap knock off ego kits.

Not saying you dont run into those types anymore but the average slightly educated rookie vaper these days usually skips cigalikes.

It seems the older folk are still more likely to gravitate towards cigalikes.

Then the younger ones want to start with a mech mod with a negative 17ohm coil blah blah

I'm confident my uncle can complete a rebuild.. if anything comes up.. we can skype.. he's across the pond from me in China..

I use a Mini Provari and a Kayfun RBA also. Fits quite easy in a side jeans pocket. Best combo I've found yet. I often carry a spare 18350 battery or two with me in a plastic battery case in the other pocket. Just as durable as any mechanical mod. Why Provari?
