So I got a pretty good refund this year and want to spend a few bucks on a high quality, reliable mod. Currently I have a bunch of Chinese VV tube mods, homemade box mods, VV gripper, eGo VV batteries, etc... Most are hanging on by a thread (or superglue, rubber bands and duct tape)...
I have decided to spend some money on something decent finally. I am trying to decide between a Provari or a REO Grand VV. I am currently using terminator C (oddy clone) on the VV gripper. I love the Terminator flavor and juice capacity plus it is easy to rebuild. I could put Terminator on a Provari and probably by a pretty happy camper, BUT, I love the form factor of the box mods, VV gripper type mods. I like to carry my PV in my shirt pocket and the box type mods just fit better there. So that leads me to the REO Grand VV (plus some type of compatible, rebuildable atty - A7 mini perhaps). Rebuildable atty is a must for me and decent juice capacity is a must for me also... I dont mind carrying around a spare battery if necessary.

Any advice, experiences or comments are welcome. I plan to pull the trigger within the next week or so.

Thanks in advance.

A Box Mod is more like a pack of cigarettes. If it takes two batteries, I'd shy away, pesonally. My box mod uses two batteries and I use it with caution when I do.

The Provari may not qualify as the be all end all, but it's solid, reliable, and capable. That, and you can have it repaired when it breaks. There's a lot of competition out there these days, but almost none with stateside repair. Someone will match the Provari's specs one day, but vendors are going to have to open repair shops to match the value aspect of being able to send the mod back in when it needs to be refurbed or repaired. So far China's answer is planned obsolescence and costly replacement.

Between the Reo and the Provari I'd say go with what turns you on. If you like the box mod format, go for it. I like slipping a slimline mod in my pocket on the go. I also like the single 18650 battery format.

Hey SDex,

I own a Reo Grand (not VV) and a Provari. First either one of them I doubt you will be putting in your shirt pocket. Both are pretty heavy, and would pull your shirt down :). Both are great for different reasons.

If you love dripping but don't like carrying around the juice bottle then the reo is awesome. If you mostly use your Oddy clone (or other RBA's) / Cartos you probably want to go with the provari.

I use both and have carried them in my front jeans pocket without any problems. Only issue with the Reo is the juice cup... you want to make sure it is empty before you put it in your front pocket :?:

now the downside to the provari is that you will need to clean the contacts probably every month otherwise you get the fire button blinky light (says battery is low) even on a freshly charged battery.

hope this was helpful.

Great on the tax refund. As for a mod. I've got a lot of em. I really like my Provari's. (own three), and just got a legacy mechanical mod.
PureSmoker LEGACY Standard [18650]
I bought the 18650 size, and also the 18350 plus the extension tube for a kick. Don't coun't it out of the ball park. It goes right along with my Provari as long as it has a kick in it. Just depends on you taste. I don't like the box mods. More of the tube mod type myself. Fits in my pocket better.

I have both a Provari and a Reo Grand (not vv). The Provari is a blem so it was about the same price as the Reo.

For now (until I can build a decent coil) I have a carto on the Reo. No leakage issues. And a carto tank on the Provari. I have carried both in my purse with no leakage issues. Both use the same 18650 batteries. So if I had to pick one? Don't have an answer to that one. They are both well made, and my delivery systems are both non fussy. Either way, it's a good choice IMO.
