I have lived with this little beauty for a while now and absolutely love it. Often copied but rarely equaled I think this simple device is one of the best little gennys ever made. A member here, DSmooch, described it in terms of quality as something you might find rattling around in one of your grandfathers drawers. I don't know of better words to descibe it. It just has that beautiful precision feel about it. Maybe because these have been made wonderfully accessible, great stock availability, they are not appreciated quite as much as they should be. Old addage: familiarity breeds contempt. I know nothing really about the makers but I salute them on an outstanding achievement. Screw cap that allows you to remove your cap as gently as a lamb, no leaks, no fuss, spare parts on tap, simple and functional, it is the standard by which I measure all other genesis atomizers.

Just had to put this out there. :)

You can see the problems starting to appear with the AGAs now because you cant get parts for them. With the DID you can get any piece you need and that in my opinion is the sort of backup you need. Non-existent for so many of the other things we buy.

Very true. If you can't get spare parts, the RBA becomes a throw away. The same thing is true with some of the high end units being made lately. If I have to get on a list, for a unit I might not get for 4 months, what if I need a part for it?

I love my DID also. If there was a thing as an out and about genny... the DID is it LOL. With the screw on top cap, it's one less thing I have to worry about. I just wish those spare parts weren't in Greece and cost $25 to ship to me LOL.

Yeah, but at least they're available, and MM ships pretty quick.

I love the DID too. When looking for my first higher end genesis, I found it was the only one that meet all my requirements. 1.2mm air hole...perfect. BIG wick hole (3.5mm). Solid simple design. Readily available. I can't wait for Jim (the creator) to make a 22mm version.

That would be a great addition to the stable. It deserves its place on top of a Chi_You or a Caravela to be sure. Probably plenty that live there already, just not in the photos :).

You guys convinced me, I just ordered a Cos Flaw satin D20 with a short converter. Cobra will probably be next.

I've got one that I bought off the classys at a good price. But the air hole is rather large. I suspect that it has been drilled out. I still enjoy it very much but I'm finding myself lurking in the clearance section at mmvapors also. The screw on top cap is what does it for me. I am in DC, touring the Smithsonians and the city and the rba that is in my purse is my DID. It's really nice that I'm not having to worry about the top cap coming off. It's enough that I have to be aware that it needs to stay upright without other issues.

I see that brass contacts are an option. Is there any advantage to having brass contacts as opposed to the SS that it comes with?

donnah, you know that you can get a new top cap, right? It comes as a matched set with a new top deck, so that the air hole lines up properly.
As far as the brass hardware, the ground screw wouldn't make any difference, because all it does is hold the wire to the deck. A brass center post will make a slight difference, because brass is a better electrical conductor than stainless. However, some juices may corrode brass.

Yea.. I know but the top caps and platforms haven't been in stock in a while. I do enjoy my did the way it is. I just want another LOL I just wondered if it was worth it to spend the extra money on the brass contacts since shipping is so expensive. If I order, I only want to order once!

Great choice, I think you will love it and as you can see there are plenty of people who will take it off your hands if you don't :). I got a cosmetically flawed one as well and can't find a thing wrong with it. Same experience related by others - ultra picky quality control which is a good thing as well.

I've said it before and i'll say it again. the Did is the most under-rated Genesis atty on the market. Why? Because it's readily available! All these hard to get genny's with multiple wick holes and reduced chambers ......... With a 3.5mm wick hole you don't need to use a U'ey because the fatter wick holds a ton of juice and wicks perfectly. The steeply slanted design of the Did top cap, by design, IS a reduced chamber! Other genny's proudly state that the o-ring design to secure the top cap allows you to adjust the throat hit. Really??? Do you know anyone that actually lines up their air hole away from the wick to increase harshness of the vapor? I've bought a few other genny's but I'm spoiled I guess because I sold two of them the day after I received them and actually threw another one in the trash! now I'm on "lists" for three other genny's because I can't seem to control my vaping spending habit. I hope I'm pleasantly surprised once I finally receive them ..... but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't measure up to my Dids.
