i was never the sharpest tool in the shed and it being my first time i am definatley sure it was my own fault.

I had trouble first time too Shawn. Fill your cart. Hit 'checkout'. Enter shipping/billing info if it's not filled in and hit 'continue.'

Choose your shipping method. Hit continue. Now this is the key part. Input the discount code and hit "apply coupon". Before doing anything else, insure that the coupon applied to your order. If it did, NOW is the time to put in any special instructions, credit card info or other payment type and click place order. What I did the first time is enter all this info at once and hit "Place order" before I had separately hit "apply coupon." So they were kind enough to allow me to cancel and redo it the right way.

thx for the help siouxsie , i went back and found thats where i messed up i did not hit apply coupon i thought hitting continue would apply it , now i know for next time thx again

Yes they really should have that apply coupon step be on the prior page to the one entering payment info and the confirm order button. It would save alot of headaches on both sides if you could redesign this. I'm not saying it wasn't my fault but I've not seen this configuration until now and it through me off my game.
