Pre filled cartridges versus liquid.

I just wanted to point out to newbies (yeah, I'm a newbie too) that I just started the liguid nicotine today, instead of using the pre-filled carts.
My point being that today I used 2 carts (filled myself) instead of 6-7 pre-filled carts (which really didn't work well to begin with)
I was very surprised at the difference in quality and the lesser amount of carts I used today.

Oh...question:
I got a syringe (for the liquid) at Walgreens. The biggest one they had was 23 gauge.
Can anyone tell me where I might find a bigger one, or what I should use? 18 gauge?
