Am I just not doing it right or has anyone else noticed that the 'life' of a cart when you fill it yourself is significantly shorter than the pre-filled carts? When I first got my penstyle, it came with the usual pre-filled cartridges. I also ordered some extras. Those carts lasted me, literally, all day. Put one on in the morning and good to go until bedtime. However, my supplier closed up shop (thank you SO much Health Canada!) so started refilling them myself. Seems like no matter what I try, I can only get about a quarter the amount of time before having to change out again. I fill them slowly, use a syringe, use a dropper, let them sit for awhile and top up ... everything I can think of and it's still the same. Anyone else experience this? What is it they do with these pre-filled ones that makes them last so much longer?

I don't notice any longer life with the pre-filled than the ones I fill myself. They have never lasted me the entire day. Maybe you vaped less when you started?

I fill mine by taking out the fiber, filling the cart 3/4 of the way with nicquid, replacing the fiber and topping off. My carts are as full as is possible and that's the method I always use. Sounds like your method is just as effective.

I'm finding the same thing FisherPal. My refills and top-ups just don't seem to last as long as the pre-filled. Probably because I'm in such a hurry.

I started a few weeks ago with a bunch of pre-fills and now that they're used up I am refilling them. But I believe there is a knack to this and as newbies we just haven't perfected our technique yet.

I've been refilling as they empty and I think I need to get into a ritual of sitting down once a week (Experts, does this sound right?) gathering up all my tools and filling everything up so I'm ready to go....no need to rush and top up a cart or two before I leave for the day.

I follow the same procedure as Avid. But I have noticed the same outcome as you speak of. I believe that it has something to do with the heating/warming of the liquid by the atomizer which makes it degrade/thicken and stick on the wicking material. I assume it is that build up that is making it less absorbent.

Being a quilter, I know that washing the batting softens it. Most fabric (and I assume batting too) comes with a starch on it. The starch keeps it stiffer until washed. (yes, could be one more thing we are vaping)

One thing I have thought about trying, to recreate the the brand new and fresh experience. Is to restuff the cartridges each time when empty with fresh batting. But, the fact that I dont have time to add another task to my busy day stops me from doing it. So, I just live with it. Still tastes better than an analoge to me. I would be interested to know if you find a solution.

This little goodie that was suggested by Tinear comes in handy. It has a little cap that does not show in the picture. Pin Point Oil Dispenser - DSP

I have this little devise and use it from time to time as an alternative to the syringe as it works the same. I still believe it is the degrading of the liquid left in the reused cartridge that lessens the new and fresh experience. =)
