Once I figured it out it still gives you a choice so that you will know what that person is saying should you choose to read it. I had not encountered it before as before yesterday I had not chosen to ignore anyone on ECF before.

Very true, but that is often when you learn the most about a person, particularly when you only interact online... So in some cases it has been...enlightening.
