Morning all and nice to see you back. my4jewels. :)

And Tom, I do believe you have grown attached to the new puppy!!! :)

And here is something that I've been thinking about so would like some input.

Getting rid of the Welcome Thread only option and going with Avatar Parties only. Here they would have a choice of a countdown or no countdown.

I think it would simplify matters and them choosing without or with the countdown would let us know if they are going to be here at the final moment.

Thanks

Now off to walk the dog.

To me, welcome thread only means "just send me a congrats card, I'll get to it when I can... no theme included". Avatar party has a theme with picture postings. Whether they are there for it or not.

To some degree, I don't actually care if they "show up" or not... I like it when they do... but they don't HAVE to show up. I'd just do the avatar party at the scheduled time with the theme, and if they can show up, great, if not oh-well. Then, it can be either "synchronous" or "asynchronous". It is a forum after all, not a chat room. They can always page back. In other words... we pretend they are there...whether they are there or not. Everything is on schedule, and known in advance.

It's better for them, and more fun for us, if they can schedule it for when they can show up. But that isn't a requirement at all. The whole purpose of a forum is to let people post at their own speed and timing.

Hi everyone...well I guess I'm kinda late to the party. Have been going thru some nasty health issues and haven't been on in quite awhile (Yeah, it turned out to be a smoking-related C word thing) Anyway, I ran across the notification from JJ reminding me I'll be turning vet shortly. Thank you! I certainly appreciate it but don't need a party or anything although as my screen name states, I am slightly partial to old Chevrolet Chevelles and hot rods in general. LOL!. Its really enough for me to be well enough to feel inclined (and able) to reply here at all. That's no joke at all.

I know its way past the 60 day thing but I wanted to acknowledge the great folks here and will proudly display my vet status when the day arrives and get back to trying to offer what small bit of help on ECF I can. I never would have been able to quit cigarettes a year ago if had not been for the support and encouragement from everyone here along with my PVs. I believe my condition would have been even worse with that extra year of smoking.

I hope to be with you all for a long time to come!

Cheers

Dave

A little confusing...does that mean your proposing that if they don't want a countdown, that they don't get a welcome thread?

They get the Welcome thread because it's included in the Avatar. This way, if they go with the no countdown, they can come anytime of the day of their day and celebrate with us (good option for those who can't be here at the exact time). When they show up, whoever is around can celebrate with them and even do the fireworks.

The full Avatar would be with the countdown and would get them in the drawing for the big grand prize for the contest.
