 i can't believe you're just now putting up curtains. How long did you live there with no curtains or blinds?
You should just tape up newspapers like I do. It's cheap and you can pick new ones up any time! Well...you have to get up early in the morning before your neighbors come out and get their newspaper.

No way am I telling this to DH...he'd probably go for it in a heart beat!!!

 Years ago I built a fire ring in the middle of the pasture. I've always kept a path mowed out to it. Daughter always had friends over and they would cook out. A couple times during the summer just the three of us would go out there, build a fire and cook hot dogs. Sit around the fire talking till late at night. Good quality parents/child time. Daughter would bring her sorority out once a year for a cook out/camp out night.

Campfires are great for bonding. Good old fashion chatting around the snap, crackle and pop...the flames...smoke and, of course our horses always had to join in out of curiosity. Great fun! :)

DW and I still go out there a couple of times a month, eat, sit, drink beer and chat. Nothing is better than a campfire. :)
